Wednesday ‘Podge – Oui Oui, le Paris

1. The Olympics kick off this coming weekend. Will you be watching? If you could watch just one event in person, which one would you choose?

I totally forgot those were coming up! I am sure we will watch; we always do. If I could watch just one, it would probably be gymnastics, since I did that pretty seriously as a kid.

2. Have you ever been to Paris? Is this a city you’d like to visit? What’s your favorite ‘French thing’?

I have! It was in the year 2001 and I Ash and I planned our first vacation together. We flew to London and took the Chunnel to Paris. We had fun but definitely learned a lot about each other! I don’t think I’d go back, sadly. My favorite French thing is this sandwich, the croque monsieur:

3. Macaron, creme brulee, chocolate soufle, mille feuille, or an eclair…your favorite French patisserie from the ones listed?

Probably the eclair. They’re just always tasty.

4. July 24th is National Cousins Day…do you have many cousins? Are you close to them? Will you see any of your cousins on July 24th?

I have a lot on my dad’s side, none on my mom’s. I have kept up with a few of them and their kids. Last year we even went to my second cousin’s graduation from her MFA program. In the last two years, I have gotten closer with my oldest cousin from my dad’s brother and we even visited a few times. I doubt we’ll see any since they all live far from me.

5.  Last time you went somewhere that felt like ‘everyone and his cousin‘ was there?

LOL, on Monday in my weekend recap, I used a similar phrase, everyone and their mom to describe when we walked into Halpatter brewing on Saturday. I am posting the photo below but imagine, there to the immediate left is the front door. All those tables were packed and there was a line from the door to the counter. They have a back room as well and it was full too. Saturday at the only brewery in a 12,000 person town is where it’s at, apparently.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I was thinking about taking a half day to catch up and using sick leave, but then my stomach started hurting so that’s karma! Oh well. I will probably still do it. I have to tidy the house for a Saturday get-together, go to Hobby Lobby for acrylic paints, mail a box, pick up an Rx, and I texted my son to see if he wanted to eat lunch with me. If I’d stuck to my original plan/work hours, I wouldn’t even see him today! Left at 7:30 and he works at 5.

I have a whole ton of stuff to do, seeing as how I picked up that other class just Monday and then I also got access to my TSC websites. Granted, classed don’t start until the 19th so I have some time. But the teacher in me wants to start working on the info so it’s all set for day one. I can’t believe I am going back to in-classroom teaching. I figure once I got this job, I’d never set foot on a college campus again. But here we are!

  1. Sorry about the sudden tummy ache. Hope you’re feeling better now and it’s all over. Enjoy the day! 💙

  2. Hope you’re feeling better. I was a teacher and always wanted to get going and feel ahead of the game before day one. Croque Monsieur is one of my faves too!

  3. Good for you for teaching in a college classroom. That is impressive! Do you have a PhD? Or a masters degree? I hope your lunch plans worked out! And that your stomach stopped hurting…

  4. While I can’t say Paris would be my #1 pick to go back to and visit, I wouldn’t mind heading back to the Loire Valley and some of the more rural areas of France. As much as I love the Eiffel Tower I just am not a city person and can’t stand the crowds after a day or two.

  5. Thanks for stopping by and I do hope you got everything done. It’s always good to feel caught up and ready. Happy weekend!

  6. Sorry about the tummy troubles – hope the discomfort didn’t last long. I’m in a similar situation with my cousins – just one on my mom’s side, but dozens of them on my dad’s side. Hope you’re having a great week!
