Thursday 13 – Jazzy morning

  1. It’s 8 and my interview is in an hour and a half. I didn’t want to get out of bed this morning, out of my dream space. I’m not worried about facing the world but I was still feeling rather reluctant.
  2. But my husband was very supportive as he was leaving for work so I dragged myself up and made coffee and felt better.
  3. I’m listening to one of those cozy jazz stations on YouTube and enjoying the morning. Taking time for the little things is so refreshing.
  4. As noted, I got a lot done yesterday: sweeping and washing floors, putting stuff away that had been junking up counters, putting down the blue mat in the laundry room since it’s pool season, errands for various things, and I got a second coat of killz on the new door. Super productive day!
  5. OK, interview over and I’m back in the office. Apparently the AC isn’t working on my floor so they have these portable units. It’s kind of a nice white noise though and it’s not too hot yet. Of course, I am wearing a sweater because of my interview later so there’s that…
  6. I feel like the interview went really well. They said there would be a second round so we shall see. At 3:30 I have another one at the community college for a dual enrollment advisor. Seems like there are pluses and minuses for both so if offered, I’ll have to choose. But I have options!
  7. It’s overcast and ugly today but not supposed to rain. My lawn could use it though. Well, the parts around the tree. Did I tell you about the tree? We had this large branch fall about an hour after we left town Friday – of course – and we cannot take care of it ourselves, as it is still semi-attached. Pic at end of post. I have filled out forms for a quote from two tree services but since we had that tornado a couple weeks ago, I am sure they are all busy. Until then, it will be camped out in the front yard! Nothing even prompted its fall; it happened on a random sunny afternoon!
  8. Three local restaurants closed in the past week and I cannot for the life of me figure out why this town can’t seem to keep places. Conversely, Gainesville has a Chuy’s, PF Chang’s, a Cheesecake Factory, and a Dave and Busters even! And it is not any larger than we are. Also, a college town. It honestly makes no sense at all. I guess they are closer to Ocala and whatnot but still, I don’t get it. We had a World of Beer – closed. We had a Chuy’s – closed. We had Macaroni Grill – closed. Maybe it’s just the economy but I still don’t get it. Granted, we don’t eat out as often as we used to either.
  9. I don’t know if I mentioned before but as I have been trying to smooth the rough edges of my life, I have been watching a lot of competitive eating youtube channels. Joel Hansen, Katina Eats Kilos, and Beard Meats Food, to be specific. I’m not sure why watching people eat large amounts of food is entertaining but it is.
  10. I’m grading papers and trying to keep my cool about my interview. I don’t get “nervous” as often anymore but it’s more the looming “I have to go do this” idea. I want to do well and leave them with a good impression, of course.
  11. To that end, I am not hungry today, which I normally find when I am nervous but again, not really nervous. Maybe I have had so many calories lately that I’ve just reached a limit. I probably could go back to some fasting days without any issues. Maybe soon.
  12. Maintenance guys keep coming in to check on us b/c of the AC issue but today is honestly the first time I haven’t felt freezing in here. I don’t even mind it’s a bit warm.
  13. OK the last one is going to be the promised tree photo. I can’t think of anything else so there ya go!

  1. What a magnificent tree! How odd that a branch randomly fell. I hope your tree isn´t dead? I´ll bet you are relieved that the interview is over! I hope you get the right job for you. And if watching competitive eating to smooth the rough edges helps, maybe I should take that up, lol.
