1. What impresses you?
Courage, positivity in the face of adversity, and people who have failed but keep trying. I really like those qualities in folks.
2. Where are you in your family birth order? Do you fit the stereotype of that particular slot? In what way?
I’m first born so in a lot of ways, yes. I was the leader, the responsible one. Also, my sister is nearly 6 years younger so I got to be the “only child” for a while. It’s funny though because I see these memes where it shows the oldest being the one who remembers your birthday and all that and I was definitely that one, but then it shows the middle child being kind of a slacker but for my kids, it’s not that way! My oldest doesn’t remember anything and my middle does. I went off on a tangent on this Q; I’m sorry.
3. What motivates you more-a reward or a consequence? Elaborate.
Hmm, my fear is motivated by consequences but overall, I am looking for both outcomes and rewards. For example, if I spent a large amount of time in my yard, working, I’d be satisfied with my result and proud of it but at the same time, I would feel as if I earned a cold drink and a relaxing afternoon!
4. May 14th is National Buttermilk Biscuit Day. Who thinks biscuits deserve their own day? Do you like biscuits? Make your own? Grab one for breakfast at a drive-through now and then? Which drive-through makes the one you like best? What do you like to put on a biscuit? What’s your favorite food or dish that calls for buttermilk?
I mean, I love a good biscuit! I have never made my own but for a while, we bought the frozen Pillsbury Grands and I made them with breakfast on the weekends. ACTUALLY, for a little while when my two older kids were in daycare, I’d get up and pop a couple in the oven early, then make some frozen sausage, eggs, and cheese and wrap them in foil so when I dropped them off, they had breakfast.
We don’t do drive-thrus so I don’t know.
I prefer the whole eggs, meats, cheese combo but a warm biscuit with butter and honey is nice too.
I don’t use a lot of buttermilk but when we were in Dallas (ok, Arlington) in ’22 we went to this place that sold mini buttermilk pies and wow, was it ever good!
5. Are there any weddings on your summer calendar? What’s your favorite part of a wedding/wedding reception?
Nope. We are at the age where we have friends with kids who could be getting married but none quite yet. For the ceremony, I enjoy the vows. When we went to our friend Drew’s wedding, they did their vows in silence. Well, they had music playing over them while they spoke. I always like how different each reception is with their food choices too. At my BIL’s wedding they had a Mexican theme (it was IN Mexico) and waiters came around with little cups of guac. At our friends Andrew and Susan’s wedding, they wanted it relaxed so they had beer and pizza!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
For those following along at home, the two big things here lately are A.) I have to find a new job stat. I have a phone interview today with a local company that does similar things that I do here. I assume I got the interview because of my previous bill editing experience. Fingers crossed and prayers appreciated!
B.) Tornadoes! Three of them to be specific. We’re more of a hurricane state so they were unprecedented. Thankfully, my side of town was not affected really but the schools were all wonky. If you read my previous posts, they shut down school Friday and we did a half day Monday because there was supposed to be more rain. They even canceled yesterday, but of course, it was a beautiful day! I thanked God for it; got stuff done around my house, hung out with my children. But for sure, the weird scheduling has made it seem like we’re living in some kind of in-between Twilight Zone. I think Ash was happy to go back to work! Although, some computers got messed up because of the power surges so that’s on his mind and stressful.
I struggled a lot last week with trying to believe things will turn out well with my job hunt and all but the tornadoes really put things into perspective! Just when you’re starting to struggle and get bogged down by all the messy things in life, something like an act of God happens to make you thankful for everything! So each day I’ve been saying a morning prayer and a just-before-bed prayer and focusing on being grateful. I’m surprised at how well it works to help my overall mood and encourages me to keep moving forward. As my husband keeps telling me, “You can’t fail if you don’t give up.”

Praying all goes well today with your interview. We had a tornado a couple of years ago, which is highly unusual because I live in the mountains….SHEW!!! even though it was a small tornado it was downright scary!!
When girls were younger, I did the Pillsbury Grand Biscuits!
Frozen Pillsbury Grands are a good substitute for homemade! I’m so glad y’all are ok after the crazy storms. Let us know how the interview goes!!
Sending strength to you for your interview today! It’s interesting to me what you wrote yesterday about becoming more “professional” at this season of your life. At my season, I definitely lean to more casual. I guess that’s why we refer to them as seasons.
And now I want buttermilk biscuits!
Agreed; these seasons change before we even realize it. Guess that’s why I am just now realizing it. Ha. And thanks!
I, too, was an only child for my first five years. Then my sister came, and it was a rude awakening for me. I think I have both only-child and firstborn traits.
Glad you got the encouragement you needed by being grateful. Yikes about those tornado threats, scary. I’m praying right now that your phone interview goes well!!
Tornados are scary…I’m glad there was no damage to your home and everyone is safe. I hope the job interview went well! Your answer to the biscuit question reminded me I have a recipe for buttermilk pie I haven’t made in years. It was so good I think I’ll have to pull it out again one day soon. Have a nice rest of the week!
Love our answer for #1. I love how responsible you were as a child. Enjoyed reading your answers and big ((HUGS)) on your random question. Hope you have a nice weekend.
I enjoyed reading your post. Good luck with the job search!
