Writer’s Workshop – All good things

4. What are some of the best things you’ve done so far this year?

I went with this one because it made me go back through my posts and reflect.

OK, this is harder than I thought because, at the start of the year, it seemed I hadn’t had that many amazing moments. Let’s go chronologically:

In January, I wrote: yesterday was agriculture day down in the courtyard and I got so many goodies! I took home an entire carton of eggs, one of strawberries, a package of caramel corn, cotton candy, and some other pens and little tools.

In February, I wrote: …it all just sort of fell apart. And when we got home, we had a nice little family pow wow about communication, and acting like a family. I have always pushed the siblings to act like a team and love each other but the older they get, they seem to be pulling away. But in the end, the long conversation was exactly what we all needed.

We really needed a reset on stuff and honestly, up until recently, Elliot was MUCH better. Now he’s feeling the end of the year upon him and being annoying. But I set him straight for a little while anyway.

In March, we did A LOT! Here was where my year picked up. Ash and I went to a concert in St. Pete, served beer in Panacea; we hosted a club brew at the house, watched March Madness with some friends at a bar, and went to Thomasville for my birthday dinner. March had some bad stuff happen but those were the good highlights!

In April, I recovered some of my sanity from the bad job-related crap and we…saw my parents for Springtime and watched Dakota dance downtown, we brewed a lot, went to Gainesville for a fantastic beer festival, celebrated Isaac’s 14th birthday, went to St. George for another fantastic festival, and I got over my fear of going to this job now that I no longer technically work here.

So yeah, we have done some great things so far and I am excited for the rest of our year. While there are always ups and downs, 2024 will be good, as far as I am concerned. It’s all in what you make it, right?
