- I got a lot done Monday though, despite not being in a good mood at all. I reached out to parents about Isaac’s upcoming birthday. It’s funny that he has these two friends who don’t even go to his school but for each of their birthdays, these other two boys are the only ones invited. So Isaac and Connor went to Parker’s birthday thing and then Connor took those two to an FSU baseball game for his, and now, my kid’s taking them to a movie and dinner. They’ve done this the past couple years too. They always play Xbox together so I guess that’s how they keep up their friendship. He has neighborhood/school friends but they don’t get the special bday invite.
- We also brewed a pilsner when I got home and it went well this time, unlike last Friday. We did some different things (went back to chilling, for one) but I hope it’ll be a very tasty drinkable beer.
- I think every day since I decided/found out I had to move along from here, I have cried in my office. I was doing really well there for a bit, when I got a little more money and then a refund check because of our new roof but then of course, we owed on taxes. Not a lot, really, but every little bit hurts. We made more money, I guess, last year so they take and take. So now I just feel bad but I know this too shall pass. Better start praying again; that was really helping to make me feel stronger for all this, you know, life stuff. I’m trying to feel upbeat and not so down on myself but it’s pretty difficult.
- We’re out of town again this weekend, this time in Gainesville. Another beer fest but we’ll be serving. It’s a long one too. Most last about 4 hours but this one is 6.5! Way too long. But we’ll make it. I am just trying to be smart about money spending, etc and then using these little weekends to make myself feel happy. I actually AM really excited about this event.
- On Monday morning, Ash’s brother was texting us about stuff – the eclipse, running – and I cried all over again thinking about how I was in such good training shape two years ago. I was running a ten miler in no time, on a random Wednesday morning… because I had the time. I was also 15 pounds lighter! Ugh. So much changes all the time. I need to squeeze more runs in but I can’t figure out when. I have been getting home in the mid-afternoon and working on cooking but I think I will have to run first from now on. I like eating earlier but something has to give. If we eat at 5 instead of 4, so be it. I am trying to maintain some semblance of the eating habits we had when I was lighter but that may be a pipe dream.
- I made candied bacon for the first time on Saturday. I’d seen a video on youtube where the chef mixed maple syrup, siracha, and coconut aminos but I used sweet thai chili sauce instead of siracha and man, it was good! I put it on there with peanut butter and jelly and thoroughly enjoyed that burger.
- Now, on Tuesday, and I feel really good right now. I got stuff done! I made an appointment for Elliot for a foot doctor. He’s had ingrown toenails for a while and it was time to get that going. Then I finished my portion of the presentation for Brew Club Thursday and then I sent some paperwork for Isaac’s CIT stuff for summer camp. He did get asked to return as a Counselor in Training so this is his second year. He has one more after that before he can be hired as a head counselor and get paid!
- OK, one of my favorite authors, LJ Shen, just dropped a new book in a series I have actually read but it’s been a while so… I’m off to read!
I love to escape into a good book!
Exercise is touted as a good way to beat the blues. I’d have to agree. That and getting stuff done. You’re on a roll.
Have fun reading!
