Not even kidding; busy at the same time as it was refreshing.
Sadly, I didn’t get home until about 7:20 on Friday. Ash was feeling a little sad about my long hours but we moved past it and transferred a beer and did a few other tasks before watching some Golden Girls episodes.
Saturday morning we got up a little early because we wanted to leave for the brewery by 8:30. So, a couple weeks ago, we reached out to one of the local places to see if we could do a collaboration beer with them, as a club. Our recipe, their equipment. Their main brewer makes it but we get to be involved. I think in the end, 11 club members came and we got to do various tasks. I got to add the salts (water profile adjustment), Ash got to shovel spent grains from the mash tun, etc… it was very cool. Around noon, when we were just waiting for the boil to finish, I was thinking we’d order a pizza then beer from them but they actually gave us some free beer and picked up Zaxby’s for everyone so that was really cool. Probably didn’t get home until about 3 and of course, was exhausted then.
Koda had a friend come over (she’d already gone to her soccer game earlier with a brother) and we pretty much just sat down after the morning of work and standing. Then she got invited to a sleepover, Elliot went to work, and Isaac got invited to a sleepover and it was just us! Ash and I watched two movies: No One Will Save You (which was dumb) and They Cloned Tyrone (which was funny and poignant at the same time as it stagnated at a certain point.) That was a nice way to relax after the long day. Elliot at least came home later at night after his shift so at least we got to see someone in our family!
Sunday, I managed to somehow sleep in until 8 (rare for me) and I got the brewing equipment out and ready. Ash was up by nine so we began making a festbier. I hope it turns out well; the process went smoothly. When we finished – and since no kids were even home (both the youngers were still at friends’ and Elliot had a 9 am shift) – we decided to go to Smitty’s for lunch. We walked over to Elliot’s place after and had one beer, watched him work a little. LOL. I’m sure he hated that. As well as the fact that the family Dakota was with the night before also decided to eat there. After that, we just went home and hung out a bit, puttered around, cleaned. Elliot got home and later, Dakota. Around 5, my friend came over because we’d been trying to get together and she had a story about our other friend losing her cool at a party. This person just so happens to be the mom of the kid one of my kids was with so it was weird. I mean, we’ve been friends a long time and this is some serious drama she is stirring up for seemingly no reason. Shrug. Don’t know. But the three of us had a nice time chatting by the fire! It was a good way to end the weekend.
Alas, I am at work and everyone is home, for President’s Day. Oh well; at least I can leave at a normal time today. That will be a blessing!

On the singing contests, they tell contestants to “make that song your own”. Well, Ice Nine Kills most definitely made the most original cover of an Elvis song ever. It was strangely listenable and the video – yikes. Alana ramblinwitham
I’m at work today, too . . .not a holiday for us. Most of the folks who have school aged children will work from home today so it will be quiet (hopefully!).

sounds like you both had an enjoyable weekend with just the 2 of you, mostly. Who knows why some people get so angry about something that seems not that important but, maybe there is more to the story. If she ever confides, you will hear her side. Usually, something small that a person gets angry about was just a trigger for something deeper. This song was interesting. I actually thought there was a problem with the video but realized it was part of it…hahahaa.
LOL yes, just the video. And yeah, I think her problems are not really having to do with us but we get the outcome of her stress. It is what it is and will hopefully get resolved some day.
