Random Tuesday – Good bye, January. Get thee out of here

  • I don’t know why this month always feels like it lasts an eternity but it does. This has been a very long, cold month. Sigh. Here’s hoping February goes quickly because on March 8th, Session ends. This one hasn’t even been very difficult but I am ready for a day off… or three.
  • Isaac started feeling sick Sunday night and is now pretty bad, with a spiking fever. Elliot doesn’t feel well either so they’re both home. Meanwhile, I’ve been fasting since about 7 pm Sunday night and I woke up with that welcomed clarity fasting brings. I feel great, mentally. Now, I have some mucus and body aches but I kind of think those are from the stair climbing. Ugh. I hate that there’s no clear answer. I’m going to try to ward off whatever they have and not get it but we’ll see. ‘Tis the season, sadly. My mom, dad, and aunt all just had the ick last week.
  • I guess we’ll know once I eat again at lunch. I am literally dreaming about my lunch, even though I don’t feel actual hunger right now. No, I’ve made it past that phase. I just know that my Mexican bowl is going to be so good – all that guac and rice and beans and chicken. Oh yes.
  • I want to believe since I had Covid (probably) back in August, I can probably avoid it for a bit. I mean, it had been well over 2 years since the first time I had it anyway.
  • One side effect of fasting is being cold and on top of winter, it’s pretty dang uncomfortable. I have on a big jacket and a fleece blanket wrapped around me with my space heater too.
  • We watched this early 90s movie the other night named Short Cuts, and as I watched through all 3 hours, I couldn’t help but think the title should have been Small Cuts, because this long, intertwined story between all these people was really just a series of small things that became bigger and bigger. I’d give it a watch, to be honest. It also had one million recognizable actors in it. Funny though, I’d never heard of it.
  • The wifi at work has been so bad lately and while I contacted IT and they said they reset it up here, it’s still super intermittent. Starting to irritate me, which reminds me that I need to be aware of when I sound like I’m complaining about niceties. We’re privileged to have what we do!

  1. I’m so sorry two of the kids are sick. I hope the rest of you don’t catch it!! I’m ready for warmer weather here, too, and then I feel guilty whining about it when other people have a much longer winter. I just don’t like winter clothes and shoes – what a problem, right? haha! Hope you enjoyed your bowl for lunch!

  2. Sorry you’re going through the sick crud at your house. I hope you can avoid it! Lunch sounds yummy, and I’m not even fasting :).

I checked out the trailer for Short Cuts and learned I’d never heard of it either. You’re right, though. A crap ton of big name actors!
