Friday Five – Dodging a bullet

  1. Alright, listen, January has lasted approximately 185 million days and I am over it. You hear me? OVER IT. I always hated this month and there is no logical reasoning. I mean, it’s cold, it’s boring, it feels unsettled. I’m just counting on tonight’s brewclub EC meeting and tomorrow’s outing to 7th Hill Tap Room to alleviate some of this ennui I’m feeling.
  2. I will say, this morning was nice. My oldest child said goodbye and gave me an unsolicited hug! Shocking, I know. But maybe our text conversation last night got him thinking. I asked what he made doing a yardwork job with a friend and he was unwilling to answer, saying he didn’t want to tell me, saying I wasn’t letting him grow up. And I didn’t see it that way, but as a way to stay connected to his life. So maybe he thought about that. I don’t know but it was a nice moment to begin my day.
  3. I then began crunching numbers and I am woefully tight on money after Christmas and a bunch of field trip payments. But looking at the month ahead, it’ll be back up to normal. Christmas always sets you back, you know?
  4. I took a walk a bit ago and it’s warmer today and sunny – two things I sorely needed. On top of that, I started playing Diablo 3 again. It’s not as good as 2 or the expansion thereof but as I await amendments to come on, it’s a nice diversion. Though I had to set a time limit because I also had papers to grade.
  5. But the bullet I dodged was: nothing of mine on Tuesday’s special order, nor do I have any bills on Committee Monday. This means I can leave 30 minutes after last meeting today. And while they are set to meet 4-6, here’s hoping they end early! I luckily don’t have to stay until 6:30 or 7 hardline. Yay!

  1. I agree, this January has been Drag- Ging! We’re supposed to warm up a little this week. Something to look forward to.
An unsolicited hug from a teenager? Congrats!
