1. What’s a change you’d like or need to make this year?
My eating habits. True that some of them just came from the holidays and all the parties and stuff but I got a little bad about eating twice a day and a little bit of snacking. Back to the grind! Yesterday, I met Ash for lunch so my overall eating window was maybe 3 hours. I am going to try to hold out today to get to a full 24 hours.
2. Break the ice, on thin ice, ice skating, tip of the iceberg, ice cold...which icy idiom applies to your life right now? Explain.
Hmm, I’m going with ice cold for two reasons: one, it’s about to be cold and you know I hate winter. Two, I feel like my emotions are ice cold right now, to steel myself against the tough times right now. Is it really tough? No, not too bad. But I’m about to be insanely busy and stretched thin.
3. What’s a project you’ve been putting off? Will you get to it this month? This year?
Cleaning out drawers in the kitchen. We have a lot of them and half of them contain non-kitchen items. It’s art supplies and other random things we have gathered. They’re just too full and I am sure some of the junk can be tossed. I might get to it on a weekend this month but if nothing else, it’ll be a project for mid-March.
4. Of the fruits that grow well in winter which ones have you tried? Which is your favorite?
pomegranates, clementines, persimmons, passion fruit, pears, grapefruit, lemons, pomelos, kumquats
I’ll go grapefruit #1, then clementines and probably pears. I am not sure I have ever had a pomelo or kumquat. I know I once inherited some persimmons from a neighbor and made a pretty tasty tart out of them.
5. What do you think it means to be courageous?
To have the will and guts to pretty much accomplish all you want. Of course, that starts with having those goals. I see a lot of people today who’d rather sit and watch TV, smoke pot, not work. That’s the most cowardly thing I can imagine.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Well, Session began as normal yesterday, even though all government offices (and public schools) were closed due to the storm. It was MOSTLY just wind here; not too much rain. I don’t know what’s going on with weather lately and I’d rather not go to horrible ideas such as the earth changing and then following the rabbit hole of ideas that grow from having watched too many earth-ending movies. Speaking of, we did watch Leave The World Behind, which was… ok. Kind of interesting anyway. I don’t like end of the world type movies but this one at least had some cool ideas and good acting.
Much like our host, I too am still not in January. Maybe a little, as we have put all decor back into their boxes but it’s still waiting to go into storage; we need a couple more pieces of plywood to create shelves. I hope to get it done this weekend but eh. Dakota at least has an early soccer game, then Isaac, a haircut. Then we have nothing else going on. I remember this now: during Session, I really appreciate weekends and catch up on stuff, since it does NOT happen during the week! I won’t even leave until 6:45 tonight, then I’ll gather kids from various things and plop down in my chair, exhausted!

Cleaning out my kitchen drawers will definitely happen this month. My hubs is going out of town for a few days later in January and I plan to empty drawers and regroup. How does the silverware drawer get so crumbly when you are putting clean utensils in it?? Good luck settling in to this new year. We’ll get there!
Good point about the drawer! I have the same issue. Isn’t it weird that we get more done when our significant others leave the house? That’s definitely true for me.
I need to get back on track with my eating habits as well. My school opened back up last week, so I am kinda settling in to January!
January is a good time to clean out stuff and clean up eating habits! You got this!
January seems like a good time to clean as any!
…But not so much for soccer. Do you have year-round soccer there?
Basically, yes. Our club ball goes Aug-Nov w/a Winter skills league, then Feb-May for Spring. City soccer is now.
I’m giggling about the kitchen drawers — only b/c I purged and sorted like a crazy lady last year. I even segregated between “His” and “Hers” — only to realize last night how much ‘stuff’ has mysteriously relocated.
I love organizing and getting rid of stuff, especially at this point in my life. Good luck with your kitchen drawers. Thanks for stopping by!
Cleaning out drawers…something that is so rewarding once you are done. 🙂 We are having our own cold weather event here in our corner. I think if we all look back long enough we’ll see the weather always has it’s ups and downs and weirdness. Hope your calendar gets in sync!
Before we moved to our current house I only had 2 drawers in the kitchen and one was specifically for cutlery. In this house there are lots of drawers but the beauty of moving house was that those drawers were all organised from the start – except one, there’s always one that the dumping drawer right? And in this case there was a lot of junk left behinds from the previous owner!
We’re having a cold spell here too. Perhaps that would be a good time for me to attack our kitchen drawers!
