- Ugh; I have a massive sinus headache today and I’m generally just feeling a little blah. I don’t know what it is; perhaps a mental issue because I’m thinking about how next week begins 10 weeks of long work hours. But I also have a fairly positive attitude heading into Session so it’s kind of weird.
- I didn’t wake up feeling sick so I’m wondering when this crept in. I guess I’ll do the typical thing I do when I feel illness coming on: essential oils, herbal tea, hot baths. Maybe use the sauna too. I almost always overcome these little bugs in this manner. I refuse to lay down and just let it consume me.
- I hate January because the outcome of all the holiday spending descends upon us. I just crunched numbers and because I’m only getting one class at this one online college now, I have to spend wisely from here on out. I actually like doing my budget but it is also stressful. At the same time, it makes me feel responsible and aware of frivolous spending. Definitely did some of that in December: went out way too much; bought a lot of gifts too. Plus, I had field trip payments to make and got some stuff fixed on my car. All that stuff adds up!
- But now I feel pretty positive about being tight with my finances going forward, especially during Session. I plan to cook a lot and bring my meals. I know that will affect my husband, as he and I tend to meet to have lunch often. But it’s for the best: money and health-wise. It’s certainly time to leave large holiday meals and sweets in the past!
- We’ve been watching as many of the possible Oscar-worthy films lately and I can tell you this: they’ve all surprised me in one way or another. May/December was better than anticipated; Talk to Me was creepier than anticipated. Landscape with Invisible Hand was, so far, my favorite. But I want to see Godzilla Minus One and Zone of Interest as soon as I can. I’m guessing both will be amazing. Later today though, we’re seeing Migration.
A crud virus managed to sneak in while I wasn’t looking. I realized I hadn’t been sick in such a long time, likely because of all that social distancing from the covid days. Annoying.
Dining out has really gotten expensive the last couple of years. We rarely do it anymore.
Feel better!
Hope you feel better soon. I woke up with a lung infection on the 2nd of January. Not how I wanted to start my new year when there is so much to do packing up christmas. Glad you are feeling good about your finances. Good for you watching the nominated movies. We are way behind this year. Enjoy your weekend.
