Wednesday ‘ Podge – Coming down to it now

From this Side of the Pond

1. Did you do more talking or more listening yesterday? Was it by choice or by necessity?

I think I probably listened more and here’s why: we had our office lunch and inevitably, some people talk a lot during it. Then I went to the dentist where I obviously just listen to the hygienist. I went to dinner with friends and while I did my fair share of talking, I also listened.

2. Are you a tea drinker? Hot, cold, or both? Flavored? What do you like in your tea? Do you make Christmas tea this time of year? What time of day do you like to sip your tea?

Yes, but not as much as coffee. I prefer black hot tea but I sometimes do herbals. I put nothing in mine unless I am sick and then, honey. Funny enough, I like it mostly in the evening. My husband just got really into drinking tea, which is funny because he’s anti-caffeine and doesn’t touch coffee.

3. What’s an activity you won’t try, an event you won’t attend, or an athletic challenge you won’t take part in not even for ‘all the tea in China’

Activity – Skydiving. Event – Taylor Swift concert. Athletic challenge – Spartan run. I feel like these are all self-explanatory.

4. What’s something most people seem to love but is not ‘your cup of tea‘?

As long as I’m on the subject, Taylor Swift. She’s a dang psyop, you guys. They’ve planted her accordingly for reasons and her music is trash anyway (to me; I know everyone is different). But this is a hill I’ll die on.

5. How does your family celebrate New Year’s Eve?

When I was young, my parents didn’t do anything, nor do I remember them going anywhere. Since I have had my own family, sometimes we’d let the kids stay up late, sometimes attended family parties, and in the past few years, held a small gathering or done nothing at all. No real traditions.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Man, I was looking at the calendar on Sunday and I thought, we hardly have any activities this week! Then I remembered them all: had dinner w/ friends Monday, last night was Ash’s office party, tonight is Christmas movie trivia at Ology, tomorrow we have our first EC meeting to plan brewing events for 2024, and Friday is another friend group Christmas party. Sigh. We always manage to fill the hours. don’t we?

I am still trying to feel that Christmas spirit. I have seen glimpses but overall, I feel sort of stressed and tense. I need to wrap stuff, need to make a list of other stuff I need for the kids, and I also need to buy food for the weekend/Christmas day. Luckily, I feel motivated today and will probably do some of that. I am leaving at 2 to go have sushi with my oldest. The others will be at a movie so it will be nice for just me and Elliot to talk and spend time together. We have our moments but usually, he is annoyed with me and I with him. Teenagers! It’s a tough time.

Anyway, hope everyone has a great holiday!

  1. I was just telling my husband that the Chiefs better not make the SuperBowl this year because I am SO sick of Taylor Swift. Psyop, interesting…

  2. Hope you got through that to do list yesterday! I’m nodding my head to your answers for #3 and 4. I do hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  3. While reading your blog, an email notice popped into the corner of my screen — Amazon Prime Taylor Swift! It is like they were reading your blog along with me :-). It sounds like y’all are doing all sorts of fun things!!

  4. I do mostly enjoy all the holiday gatherings, but also the quiet nights at home in January. Hope you got your list made and crossed off! I am not a Swiftie, but admire her skill with words. I do think she’s a little too everywhere right now, some of it she can’t control, but I think if she laid low for a bit it would be to her benefit. Not saying that’s going to happen though lol. Have a happy Chrismtas holiday!

  5. Oh, I’m with you on the Taylor Swift opinion. She’s just NOT all that. Hope you are past all the stress and feeling Christmas spirit by now! Have a wonderful Christmas!

  6. I enjoyed reading your answers. I am not a fan of Taylor Swift. I am struggling with the Christmas spirit this year. I don’t know why. I opened up my boxes of decorations and I became a nervous wreck. Didn’t want to decorate at all. I did decorate but this is a real struggle this year. I pray you have a Merry Christmas! God Bless.

  7. I am with you on the Taylor Swift phenomenon. I don’t get it. But many people simply follow the crowd on many things & maybe this is simply another example.
