Wednesday ‘Podge – Mid-holiday blahs

1. Does anybody really know what day it is? Last week we skipped the Hodgepodge and I just assumed this week would find us in December, but nope. Still November. Do you wear a watch? Use a paper calendar or strictly electronic? What’s your favorite hour of the day? Why?

No, I don’t wear a watch and haven’t since maybe college. I use my google calendar A LOT but we also have a white board in the living room with one week at a time that we update regularly. I don’t have a paper calendar except in my office and only during this time when I am logging extra hours. I like to keep track of that. Hmm, favorite hour is either 6-7 am or 5-6 pm. I like dusk but also enjoy sunrise.

2. Tell us something about how you celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday.

Honestly? Not a special one this year. We ran our typical Turkey Trot, drank beer, ate a lot of food, and watched football. I barely took any photos! We lived in the moment.

3. What’s a sound you hate to hear?

My kids whining. But there’s probably some other grating sounds I’m not thinking of.

4. Where do you not mind waiting?

Hmm, I guess at ball fields until my kids finish. I don’t typically stay but if they run late or I’m early, I don’t mind the solitude in my car.

5. I really wish____________________________________.

That I felt settled but right now, things feel very stressful.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Le sigh. I feel stressed but if I was pressed to pinpoint exactly what is causing it, I probably couldn’t put it into words. So then the question becomes ‘Well, why are you worrying about it anyway?’

It was 32 this morning and clearly got colder than that in the night because all low-lying area were frosted over. Thank God for my big Lands End coat. It’s so warm you wouldn’t even know it was cold out.

I have to get some more Christmas shopping done but I am just not quite there yet. I honestly don’t know what else to get the kids; Elliot wants a year at the gym but that’s about 300 bucks. I mean, as far as I am concerned, I’ll just start paying that in January. I don’t know; I just feel too overloaded right now.

Admittedly, I just heard a version of “My Favorite Things” and I felt better. Happy even. Maybe tomorrow I will do my Thursday 13 based on my fave things. Might be worth a read!

  1. There was a Turkey Trot in our neighborhood on Thanksgiving morning. They ran in front of our house and we were surprised at how many folks participated. We somehow missed the announcement so watched from our front door!

  2. After a long, hot Alabama summer, I’m so thankful for the chilly temps!
I was just humming “My Favorite Things” yesterday morning. Must be something in the air!

  3. I had a few moments like that where I couldn’t pinpoint why I was feeling what I was. It eventually passed and I do remember having chatted a bit with my daughter and thinking that perhaps it was weather/seasonal related…with it getting dark so early, that often messes with me and just sad moments of missing my mom and dad. i’m not sure if that was why I was feeling the way I was but it could’ve been.

    I enjoyed your answers.

    1. Yes, I admit the time change has a delayed affect on me. We were having a nice time last night: decorating the tree and listening to music and at one point, I went into the kitchen thinking the clock would read 8 or 8:30 but it was literally 6:45!
