- Last Thursday I regaled you with things to do – and not – in Helen, GA. This week, all I have are brain bits. I’m tired, y’all.
- The new temp guy started yesterday and I haven’t spoken to him just yet. I’m not one of those go up and introduce myself type people anyway. I don’t remember how I started talking to Jack last year but I am sure there was some impetus. I guess I need to look for the open door with this guy. I think his name is Ethan? All I know is that he has the same floppy hair that all the young boys have now.
- It’s cold for the time being; low 40s in the AM and WINDY, so windy I want to sing Let’s Go Fly a Kite, from Mary Poppins. Luckily, my long parka Ash got me last year is a lifesaver. It’s so warm! I don’t care if people think it’s isn’t quite cold enough to break out the big guns; I like to be warm.
- So yesterday, my son had a job interview at a local cajun restaurant. It’s been around probably 20 years and I’ve eaten there before but he went in one day last week and saw his old friend from soccer was working there so the kid put in a good word. As the afternoon progressed, I saw my son leave for it – though pretty sure he had on his nice clothes… and his dumb Crocs – and then not 20 minutes later, he called me and said he had good news and bad news. The bad was that he got pulled over on his way. When the cop asked why he was speeding, he told him he was on his way to an interview so he only got a warning! Oh, and he got the job. LOL. I think they’re starting him as dishwasher but hey, start in the mailroom and work your way to CEO right? His friend has been there since February and is a cook now so there’s upward mobility. He just needs something to bring in cash for gas and insurance and eating out. Ah, I remember being 16.
- I don’t think this building knows how to run heat. It’s FRIGID in here, as always, and it just keeps pushing air out. I truly don’t get it but maybe people are generally much larger and unhealthy now so they’re always sweating? Carbs will do that to you. Meanwhile, my hand might fall off from frostbite.
- Just got a call from my middle, who stayed home yesterday. He wasn’t sick sick, but more like, just dead tired. But he apparently just woke up. He has roughly ten minutes to get to the bus. Sigh. Hope nothing else is wrong with him that he’s this tired all the time. It seems it just came up and he cannot seem to get enough sleep. I assume it’s just because he’s 13.5.
- So, everyone is talking about how, as soon as Halloween is over, the radio starts playing the Christmas music. I’m not really ready for it yet but it did remind me how much I love the Gloria Estefan song, Christmas Through Your Eyes. So this morning, I am listening to all her hits… but not that one. No Xmas just yet, ok?
- I can’t believe it was snowing in the midwest for Halloween. Is that normal? You definitely won’t catch me moving that far north, that’s for sure. No thank you.
- I’m finding it difficult to really get back into the schedule that isn’t summer in my office. I want to take short lunches and leave early but it seems like they frown on that. Just so long as you get 8 hours, I don’t see why it should matter.
- Got sidetracked looking things up, responding to birthday party invites, updating the calendar. I feel ahead now, even if I am not truly.
- It’s breezy and 50 out, but sunny, so I took a walk around the capital complex. It’s really quite a nice walk, to be honest. They recently completed some of the areas around it so you can sort of sit in a quiet, sunny place and just escape the inside.
- We just got our calendar for next week and one day, I’ll be here 12 hours, and then I have to turn around and come in at 6:30 the next. I love a special session! Thanks, DeSantis! /eyeroll
- Don’t get me wrong; I do think he’s a good governor, but this one seems a little hasty and unnecessary and honestly, I am not ready to delve back into this kind of work already! Give me until actual session in the new year, please.
Nice clothes and crocs, eh? Could be worse, I suppose…lol
Congrats on the new job! I’ve done time in food service/ kitchen crew. Great for the formative years. Crocs are integral to the teen wardrobe.
My husband often thinks he sees one of our kids out and about around town because yes, they ALL have the same floppy hair.
