MMMM + Got a lot done this weekend

Man, I really did a lot this weekend, at the same time as having fun. Can you ask for anything more out of the time you’re given when not stuck at work??

I left at 2 Friday so we could start brewing. We had the water in the mash tun already before realizing the spigot was a little loose and leaking so we had to start over, costing us about 30 minutes, but it all worked out. Isaac had left around 1 with his friend for the beach, Elliot only came home briefly to get clothes before going back out, and so, it was just Dakota home that evening. We recently showed her The ‘Burbs and we were looking for something 80s and cheesy and similar but it turned out to be quite serious – a movie called Firstborn with Teri Garr and Peter Weller, and also, introducing Corey Haim. Pretty crazy.

The next morning, my goal was to get to the pool store when they opened so when Ash and Dakota ran, I got some chlorine and dumped that in – the final steps before the cover goes on for the winter. We hit the grocery store, then did a quick pumpkin patch trip. Hated to exclude Isaac but he was gone with a friend and we were running out of days!

When we got back, I was a wizard in the kitchen, making multiple things: reheating boiled peanuts, noodles for Elliot’s spaghetti leftovers for lunch, air fryer for his garlic bread, made mini tacos for Ash, a pot of boiled eggs for snacks, then after all that I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies. In between all that and later on, I cleaned and put away brewing equipment and we watched a Charles Bronson movie called Murphy’s Law which was actually pretty good. It was then time to make a butt load of southern green beans for the Halloween party. Got ready around 5 and headed out to our friends’ house.

I told Dakota to look dead or evil and she smiled. LOL.

Anyway, we had a good time, even though they chose not to put together their haunted house this year. I get not having enough time. Maybe next year. But we all still had a good time and lots of food. I think we got home around 11, after leaving Dakota with a friend to spend the night.

The next morning, I got right to work on yard stuff – mowing overgrowth, pulling weeds. Ash picked Dakota up and they went for their 5 miler, Elliot mowed the back yard, and I was pretty done at that point. It’s tiring doing that kind of labor. I made guac and tacos, started laundry, then took my requisite Sunday football nap. Isaac got home a little before 3, then around 6-7 we did some brewing things and took a four mile walk. I was dead tired by 9!

Today, Ash dropped his car off for brakes and I called a local AC place, as ours is acting up. We have a split unit and this little door that tells it to run upstairs or down is not working. it’s happened before and we had it fixed; we called a different company this time! Here’s hoping they can get it fixed, though it’s not terribly dire; we can make it run upstairs only, so sleeping is fine. I think today or tomorrow are the last days for temps in the 80s then it’s fixing to get pretty cold for a while. Maybe not cold enough for heat but let’s take care of the issue now!

OK, scary band names or songs with spooky creatures. Let’s go!

Here’s a band named Grim Reaper, but the song is fairly uplifting.

We won trivia the other night because I knew this song:

And what’s Halloween without Rob Zombie?
