Friday Five – trying to recoup some time

  1. Seriously, I cannot seem to catch up! I spent about an hour tidying up around the house on Tuesday evening but there is SO much more. I have myself set to work 7:30-3:30 today, no lunch, so I can get home and we can brew. We have to, for the Christmas party. We could do it tomorrow but this will free me up to do stuff with the pool tomorrow. I have got to vacuum and put the cover on. I’m done dealing with it!
  2. I’m having some sort of small crisis, thinking about how we may very well not make it to the pumpkin patch this year. We have gone every year for 15 years! At this point, we might head over tomorrow mid-morning but only my daughter will be with us. My oldest has weekend plans with friends and my middle is headed to the beach with a friend; very last minute but who am I to take him away from experiences? But it definitely makes me sad that the days of all three kids accompanying us and taking pics with all the ‘keens just makes me infinitely sad.
  3. I’m thinking about how much November is going to kick my ass. We have A LOT of activities scheduled, starting with a soccer tournament first weekend, bill editing is about to pick up (we can start earning comp time starting on the 1st), Ash is out of town one week, we have a special session, and heap onto that the holiday and, well, it’s overwhelming. I have to remind myself how to tackle things day by day and not get too wrapped up in the long term. It hinders me and I get too anxious and worried so it only really helps for me to slow down and take it minute by minute, hour to hour, and day by day.
  4. ETA: I have decided to head home at 2 today. As of now, I only have one draft to work on and the drafter isn’t even in town to check it when I finish anyway. This way, Ash and I will get started on our dunkel and finish before too late.
  5. I have a bunch of essays to grade before I go so I’d better start. Happy Friday!

  1. Busy busy! I agree with Lynn, checklists are our friends. Easy for me to say.
I remember getting sad about “the last time we all do [fill in the blank]”. You get used to it
    and find other things.
