1. Are there any fall-specific hobbies or crafts you enjoy pursuing?
Besides decorating, not really. I feel like I get more motivated to do yardwork, but that’s not a hobby.
2. Do you have any favorite fall-inspired recipes you like to cook or bake?
Not particularly but I do feel more motivated to make chicken chili. In fact, I may make that for the kids soon. There’s a box you can buy and it’s super easy. I can whip that up in about 20-30 mins and I found that it’s really good in tortillas with Monterrey jack cheese on top.
3. Are you a fan of Halloween? If so, what’s been your favorite costume?
I love Halloween and mourn the fact that it seems fewer people care about it, as evident by the laziness of decorating these days. My favorite costume? hard to say. For years, our family did a theme for everyone and I guess my fave was when I was Princess Leia. Ash was Han, Isaac was Darth Vader and Elliot was Luke. Dakota was little and so she was an ewok.
4. Do you have any childhood memories related to the autumn season?
I was actually just thinking of this very vague memory last night. We used to drive to Western New York when I was younger, to visit family on my mom’s side. I remember driving back one year and going through this little town where they had old homes and divided streets and it was so quaint. Every house has a ton of fall decorations and pumpkins and the leaves were all autumnal and it was so beautiful.
5. What kind of outdoor activities do you enjoy during the autumn months?
Lol, here in Florida, just being outside without it being a thousand degrees! While I don’t mind the heat, this time of year is far preferable for running and watching kids’ sports, etc. And I guess we will ride bikes more this time of year.
6. Do you look forward to ‘sweata weatha’? What is your favorite go-to outfit for Fall?
I do and I don’t; it’s so long in between seasons for us that I always forget whether I have an appropriate sweater or jacket. I don’t have a go-to but I will say, this morning I broke out this really soft turtleneck sweater.
7. Are you a fan of pumpkin or apple flavored treats or beverages?
Not really. There’s the pumpkin cream cold brew at Starbucks I have enjoyed in the past but so far this season, I have not had one. I think apple flavored stuff is gross but I do enjoy cider from time to time.
8. Which fall scents do you find most appealing?
Hmm, well, I use Young Living essential oils and lately, I have been doing this blend: orange, clove, cinnamon bark, and vanilla.
9. Do you like to visit apple orchards or pumpkin patches or corn mazes?
We don’t have any orchards around here and the closest corn maze is about a 45 min drive. We always go to the pumpkin patch and I am stressing myself out trying to find a time to go, since we have A LOT happening this month. Here’s an old collage I made.
10. Have you ever participated in or attended a fall festival or harvest fair?
Kind of? We usually have a fair with rides and such here and they do have animals and 4H contests, etc but it is never like the true fall festivals.
11. What’s your favorite thing about autumn?
There’s a clean feeling to the air; people seem happier, somehow. Maybe it’s the change in weather or all the football, I don’t know.
12. Are you more of a cider or hot chocolate person when it comes to fall beverages?
Probably hot chocolate, though i don’t drink it often. The kids love it though.
13. What’s your ideal way to spend a crisp autumn evening?
We have a fire pit and sitting around it with family or neighbors and a beer (or even a cigar) is a great way to spend it.
14. Do you like to dress up for Halloween? What’s your favorite costume or what costume do you plan for this year? Do you like to make your own costume?
Ok, a bit repetitive but yes, I like to dress up. This year we are vampires, since that is what we did for the Beer Fest and we can reuse. I have never made my ow but have embellished.
15. Are you a football fan? What’s your favorite team?
Definitely a football fan but I don’t pick teams. I support FSU because we live here and I have always considered myself a Nole. As pro goes, since we do fantasy football, I just support my players.
