1. It’s officially fall y’all. In the northern hemisphere anyway. Any signs of it where you are? What’s your favorite thing about this time of year?
Actually, we have had a lot cooler mornings and evenings. No real color changing but then again, I live in the very North of Florida and even though we get some, it depends on temps. I have heard we’re in for a cold winter. My favorite parts are: decorating for fall holidays, the cool mornings, football, and that feeling of shaking off that heat and heading towards the end of the year.
2. Have you visited any ‘falls’ in person? Tell us about one of your favorites? Of the following top ten famous falls (according to this site ) which would you most like to see in person-
Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe/Zambia), Igazu Falls (Argentina/Brazil), Niagara Falls (US/Canada), Angel Falls (Venezuela), Yosemite Falls (California), Dettifoss (Iceland) Kaieteur Falls (Guyana), Plitvice Waterfalls (Croatia), Gullfoss-Golden Falls (Iceland), or Sutherland Falls (New Zealand)
I have been to Niagara Falls, once, when I was about 11 or 13, can’t remember. It was pretty impressive! We will be seeing some very small waterfalls in October when we go up to Helen, GA. I also ziplined 200 feet about a 200 foot waterfall in Hawaii!

3. What’s something you’ll miss about summer?
Well, I did like how relaxed things were. I always worked at a University before so summers were low-key but now, in the Florida Legislature, I have even more downtime. I like those late summer nights when the lightning bugs hang out and the sun stays up so long and it’s just a nice time.
4. A favorite fall recipe?
I don’t really have one. Seems like I do make more chili and deviled eggs around now, just for various little parties.
5. Something you enjoy but lately have allowed it to ‘fall by the wayside’?
Reading. I was into a book but finished it and now, I have nothing and I want to but I never seem to make the time. That and cooking more complicated meals. We’ve been so busy lately.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I had a whole post crafted for Wednesday last week but I never did finish it up. The second eye surgery went so well, that I got other stuff done around the house.
This week is weird because although I am more tired than normal, we are more busy than the calendar would seem to indicate. Or rather, the items on the calendar take up more time and brainspace than anticipated. Tonight we have a bingo thing at the brewery and we’re going to help a friend get set up – it’s finally his night to call it! Isaac has practice and Ell will take. He also has some job follow-ups after school.
Thursday Isaac has his first symphonic band concert then Friday, I think we are actually free. But Isaac has a soccer tournament about a 40 min drive away Saturday then we have a thing for the Tallahassee Beer Society. I don’t like those people very much but we are donating a keg of beer and we get in free so… ::shrug:: Guess we are going. I like being busy, I do. I met two of my friends last night for dinner and one of them has a daughter whose club soccer career is coming to a close due to aging out. She’s a bit sad about it, which I understand, and we all agreed that once the kids are too grown to be doing all these activities, what the hell are we going to do??

You should come to Michigan sometime. These falls are 15 miles from us. Upper and lower. Don’t you love fall?
I guess I can’t post a photo. I’ll do one on my own blog. Happy Wednesday!
They sound lovely.
I’m enjoying cooler fall temps, but noticing how early it gets dark now and having to get used to that.
I was just thinking about how we used to run around, going to various sports and band competitions, practices, etc. There was always something on the schedule. We’re well into the “what the hell are we going to do?” Kinda snuck up on us!
Yeah I am sort of dreading that time, though my youngest is only 10 so at least I know I have some years still!
I’ve been amazed at how busy I am at 65. I’m still working full-time, taking an online college course, going to dinner with friends, spending time with our own grown kids and grandkids which now includes sporting events since our 7 1/2 year old granddaughter is cheering. I have a group of 3 other ladies that I meet once a month for lunch and we were texting the other day about how we thought life would slow down. I guess it does for some people but all four of us lead very busy and very involved lives.
How could I have forgotten football? I do love that about fall! I love the smells, the sounds, the half-time show, the people watching!
I hope that when I am older, my kids still live close by so I can share in these things! I am not ready to slow down anyway.
We used to live in Jacksonville and I can remember going to Christmas Eve service and not needing to wear a coat. I could not get used to not having four seasons. Another Hodgepodger posted in her intro that she could use another 8 hours in each day, I’m sure we all feel like that at times.
Yes, I used to live in South Florida and we never really had any seasons.
I live in South Carolina. Actually have been to Helen as we are very close to North Georgia. We’re only about an hour and a half from Helen. I haven’t been there for Oktoberfest, but it’s a popular spot year round. I’m sure it will be fun. Enjoy Bingo and your weekend!
I never got around to commenting on last weeks posts and figured I needed to play catch up. I hate posting and then not commenting. Uggh. We’ll see if I get around to posting this week. I’ve been struggling with reading too. and I have several to finish and I’m so close to my book goal for 2023…Glad your surgery went well.
