MMMM + well, it was a weekend, that’s for sure

Ups and downs, peaks and valleys. That’s life. Friday, I got off around 2 and met Ash at Texas Roadhouse, which was actually really good. We quite enjoyed it. Then when we got home we started on cleaning up the house for our bottle share. I was so worried too many people would attend but as it turns out, there were really only 5 people in addition to us. And they were the typical folks from our group. We had a nice time nevertheless. I made deviled eggs and put out some cream cheese and pepper jelly. Glad I didn’t go to more lengths to provide food!

Isaac had an 8 am game and I was certain Ash would take Koda for their morning run after it but no, they woke up at 6:30 and got right on it. We were to the fields by 7:30 and it was, to me, cold out there. 61 or so. I wore jeans and a sweater. His team played the team they were against in week one, which had been a shootout for a bit there; it was tied at the half but then Isaac’s team won 6-3. This time, I knew they’d be aggressive and they definitely were. It ended in a tie, 3-3, but at least it wasn’t a loss.

We were home kind of early so I went to the store to get stuff for pollo con queso, which turned out really well. Made Mexican rice and refried beans and everyone liked it. We watched the first half of the FSU game then went to Fool’s Fire to can the rest of the club beer. It was just four of us for a time, then three others showed but by then, we had our rhythm of cO2, fill, seal can, wipe and package. The brewery owner had to leave but he told us to have a beer and watch the game so that’s what we did. That was kind of cool; like having our very own sports bar. Got home and cleaned up and made some dinner then watched a movie.

Sunday, Ash and Koda ran, I cleaned and got some overgrowth clipped, then started on guac and tacos. We watched some Premier league, then segued into football. Ash was super frustrated with losing in fantasy and once Koda had gone to a friend’s house, we switched to watching a movie with the boys instead. All in all, not a bad weekend but Sunday was not without some strife. But then again, we all go through emotional/frustrated times and it has to play out. It takes time to get through it or over it.

Kids are off school today and of course, Ash is home so I am the only one having to be at work. Got here pretty early too, since I left at 7 and there wasn’t much traffic. I’d much rather get here this early though.

Since it’s a freebie week, here are some random songs I’ve enjoyed lately.

  1. We had a busy weekend. Friday we went to southwestern VA to visit my mom and sister. It was two weeks ago that we laid Daddy to rest and with vacation coming up, we thought it was a good to make the trip to see them again. We had a nice time. They are doing well. It felt too weird going home to not spend time with my jovial daddy. He was always so glad to see us. I miss him terribly. Saturday afternoon, we took a meal to our son and his wife and got to spend a little time with our new grandson. He looks so much like his papa. I had hoped to relax a bit yesterday but two days spent on other people meant things got pushed off for me to do. Luckily I had some down time by early evening. I’m really exhausted. Thanks for sharing a couple of oldie song tracks and joining the 4M party. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!

  2. Jimmy Buffet… God rest his soul… I will always like him and his tunes that I’ve partied too many times with friends and probably still will… Doobie Brothers ohhhhhhhh when I was young….. Great tunes my friend.. Thank you… and have a great day!
