That’s how it feels, with vacation looming at the end of the week. I’m almost done with the obligations here. But let’s go back.
I decided to leave at 1 on Friday so I could just get caught up on stuff. Went to the store and then Ash and I had burgers. Kids had a different meal I’d already planned because I knew we’d be out.
We went up to Growler Country for a tap takeover by Texas brewery, 903. Pretty good selections but the A/C was still not working as well as it should so it was warm there. A couple folks we knew were there so it was a nice time, even still.
Saturday I got up and got the brewing equipment in place. I finished up the pool chemicals we had started on Thursday and Ash and I worked on the brew. It went pretty smoothly so now we have two reds to choose from when it’s beer fest time; we’ll take the best one. During the boil I’d went out to cut some overgrowth while the kids did weeding. The problem with a longer vacation is your yard’s going to be a mess when you get home!
We originally had plans with the neighbors but knowing they are notoriously unreliable, we basically canceled before it was too late and I made guac and tacos. We don’t like eating and drinking super late and they didn’t want to start until 8! No thanks. I was super tired that night anyway.
Sunday I followed through on my plan to run and I’m so glad I did. I brushed down the pool and got the kids going on a bit more weeding before the rains came. I did laundry and made a lasagna I had frozen a couple weeks ago. Easy lunch! The afternoon was more small projects around the house that Ash and I have been working on. We picked up a double tower kegerator from a college kid a few weeks ago and now we’ve made it work. Assembled everything and got it affixed to a moving dolly so it’s easier to get around the house. We also bought ratchet ties to keep the door sealed, since it’s a little loose. All in all, a lot of progress. Ash might work on the new triple tower for our other kegerator today but the plan for today changed significantly. I’m leaving at 12:30 to drop my car off to finally get this radiator fan fixed. Then Ash will get me from there and my parents are coming through town to have lunch with us.
Knowing vacation is coming has me feeling very uneasy. Like, I know it will all come together just fine but before that, I have approximately one million things to do!

OK songs from 60s-80s? Can do!
There’s a lot of good 60s music but this came to mind first:
And here’s the 70s song that I was just listening to:
And an 80s song I have liked lately:
Man, I was a huge Beach Boys fan back in high school. I love the Poco song and the album art. I suppose the answer to Tina’s question is yes, we need something to put an end to the madness this world seems be swimming end. Excellent song choices this week. Well done.
There’s always a zillion things to do before vacation but I’m sure it’ll all come together fine. It’s just a daunting task. I don’t remember Poco. I will need to check out their stuff on YT. Tina Turner had some good hits in the 80s. I still find it hard to believe many of the great music legends are no longer with us. Thanks for joining DH’s 64th bday celebration. Have a boogietastic week and funtastic vacation, my dear!
So much great music and memories
Nice selection of songs! They’re good representatives of the decade…
Preparing for vacation at work and at home can be so stressful. I wasn’t familiar with the Poco song but the other two are favorites and it was so nice hearing them again. Alana ramblinwitham
