Random Tuesday –

  • I have had such back pain lately and it’s affecting my sleep, which is probably also contributing to the pain! Certainly seems like a vicious cycle. I have done back stretches in my office the last couple days and I believe it is working; at least I don’t feel so stiff. I remember this now, whenever I have gone back to running: there’s a few weeks’ worth of bodily discomfort and then suddenly it feels right again. Still waiting for that moment though.
  • Even though I was still a little worse for wear Monday morning, I was feeling motivated so after I went down to the cafeteria to snag some salt packets, (for my hard boiled eggs) I took the elevator up to floor ten and then walked the other 5. It’s rough but good for me, I know. The only issue with a desk job is lack of movement opportunities.
  • These summer storms have been crazy! They come on quickly and dump massive amounts of water. There’s also tons of lightning and thunder. They just seem more intense than normal. Luckily, they do tend to cool things off a bit. Though sometimes they just make it a lot more humid out.
  • I’m trying not to stress about ALL THE THINGS we have going on forever and ever. I see no free weekends in the foreseeable future. Tonight we’re seeing a movie, tomorrow I have a kid doc appt and a haircut, plus a meeting in the evening. Thursday is ACTUALLY free, then Saturday we are hosting a brew club event. If it finished before 6, we may go see a soccer game. Sunday I might just sleep all day! Detailing everything makes me want to. The following weekend is all activities as well. It never ends!
  • My senior editor is in the office today and she hasn’t been for a while (taking a lot of her leave) but it’s always weird because she never says hi to me. I don’t think she actually likes me, though I am not here to make friends; I’m here to work. But let’s just say everyone else here is a lot nicer.
  • I say that and then I just spent half an hour talking to co-workers. It is nice to finally be a part/included!

  1. You really need to switch to a HIIT type thing and weight lifting program or down the road, your body will make you pay for it permanently. Many of these Olympic people are testifying to that. Like Mark Sisson. Not to mention the drain on your immune system. Sorry to say it again, but it’s not a good way to go. Both my niece and sister-in-law had to stop with permanent back/hip issues and I could give you stories like that out the wazoo. I know the pain feels good, but you can get that same high from lifting weights and interval stuff. Probably the HIIT stuff can be done on a bike which is easier yet on your joints. Just saying…
