SO, the weekend was pretty darn decent for us. Saturday we had beautiful weather, which is fortunate because Ash had a 12 mile off-road race way out almost to Georgia. He left early and I got the kids fed and dressed and then went out there to watch him finish. It was at Tall Timbers Research and Conservancy facility so it was a little like a farm. (If you’re on my site reading this, not on a feed, you can see the pic of Elliot next to the tractor.) It was a nice way to start our morning, even though I was dreading my own ten mile run slated for that day. BUT, Ash’s friend, Jim, suggested I put it off until Sunday if I wanted to get out earlier. And so I did. And Saturday felt a whole lot happier because of it.
I woke early Sunday and got all ready to run. I walked outside and it was raining! But I couldn’t put it off any longer so I just hit the road. And I had a great run! I finished in 100 minutes, which is good because I’m aiming for two hours 15 minutes for my half. If I ran 3 more at a decent pace, I’d make it. So all in all, not bad. I was having a good day though and you never know how raceday will feel. Last half-marathon, I felt fine energy-wise but around mile 11, I pulled something in my ankle and that’s what slowed down my last two miles. I’m trying to not get injured this time. 🙂
I’ve been feeling rather nostalgic lately; so many smells on the air have brought old memories to the forefront of my mind. Maybe a post soon.
It’s a freebie week and admittedly, I have not been liking a lot of the new songs on the radio lately. Some of the country ones aren’t doing it for me and I don’t *really* listen to all that much new pop. So I’ll just pull a song out of my as -, er, thin air!
Ok so yesterday I saw the Kia Soul hamster commercial for the first time in a long time and I remember when that song was popular, y’all. Here’s the original video!
Black Sheep – The Choice is Yours
And on that same vibe, this is Onyx – Slam. In between 8th and 9th grade, I went to Canada with my friend, Tracy and her brother to visit their dad. On the drive back, we stopped at South of the Border (have you been there? Super cheesy!) Anyway, we’d been deprived of our radio stations and I remember walking amongst the buildings shaped like sombreros and wishing we could hear this song.
Now, to mellow you out, let’s finish up with Digable Planets – Rebirth of Cool. I used to jam to this, y’all.
Ok, there ya have it. Hope you are having a good Monday!

Reading about all of the running….makes me feel lazy!!
I don’t think I’ve heard any of those songs before.
Thanks for dancing with me. 3G isn’t handling YouTube very well, but I wanted to drop my show if support this Monday even while running errands with my DH on his day off. 😀
Thank you for sharing your music and dancing with us today!
Enjoy the rest of your week
WHOA! YOU SO ROCK! Haven’t heard a couple of these, but I’ve been rockin’ them out. See ya next week. Thanks for rockin’ with us!
