MMMM + Weekends are for chillin’

Though our highs reached the low 90s this weekend, we couldn’t really tell. We didn’t really mind. Ash woke very early Saturday to go run and I decided to take a friend of mine up on an invite to go to our Junior Museum A.K.A the zoo. We don’t have a “normal” zoo but we have a natural habitat for Florida animals and it’s pretty cool. They’re doing a 2 dollar deal now that the weather is cool. So I packaged the kids up, went to Target to buy a cheap umbrella stroller, and headed to the South side of town. We had a blast too. Elliot liked the bald eagle and the snakes. Isaac just chilled in the stroller; he pointed at everything we saw.

Ash and I finished abut the same time so I texted him to get burgers and when we all reconvened at home, we grilled out. We all napped and we walked in the evening when it got cooler. Elliot no longer wants to ride in the stroller or wagon but wants to walk and jump over the cracks in the street. It wears him out anyway. The evening was relaxing even though I had some online work to do.

Sunday morning I got bagels as usual but had a slight bit of a breakdown when I heard a squeaking in my car. I’ve needed brakes for a little while so the reality of its imminence finally hit me. Sigh. Luckily, the stress from that prompted me to clean the house. And I also had to mow but I kindly ask Ash to and he agreed. It’s not like he doesn’t do household things but I actually *like* mowing the lawn. But I just didn’t have the time. By 1 PM, I had cleaned the entire house top to bottom AND finished three loads of laundry AND roasted an 8 pound turkey breast, made mashed potatoes and corn on the cob and fed the kids and cleaned up. Just in time for NFL kickoff! NICE. I was such a machine yesterday. I just accomplished so much. Later in the afternoon I did many rounds of dishes and baked cookies and even had time to read. It was a very nice weekend.

This Monday’s Music Moves Me is a freebie week so I’m choosing a little band from up North named Frontier Ruckus. They have amazing song-writing talents and I love the feel of their sound. Check them out.

  1. Love how you call the zoo a junior museum. We call the pet shop the mini zoo. lol It’s been crazy hot here too. I had a race on Sunday and nearly fainted from the heat.

Love your music picks this week! Never heard of them, but I love their sound. It’s almost like Mumford and Sons or Avett Brothers. I love the sound of a banjo, but I love how they combine the horn, piano and banjo. Very cool!

  2. Well, I sure never heard of these guys must less their songs. Thanks for the introduction, and sharing with us. Great listening music. Hope to see ya next week & have a good one.
