Weekend = Long, relaxing, stressful, enjoyable, all at the same time

Ell and Isaac’s daycare had a little Fourth party on Friday; booths with face paint, water balloons, mural painting and hula hoops. Kids loved it. And we liked the early break from work. One Longhorn meal and a viewing of Super 8 later, it was my Friday night alone with the kids and I took a long relaxing bath.

Saturday morning we cleaned out our garage, which had gotten so junky with acquisitions like the wagon and more strollers. Not to mention, we still have boxes of things from Ash’s past that were his parents’. I was amazed at how many people stopped to ask if our stuff was for sale, even though we purposely parked the car at the end of the driveway, to somewhat block the view. People can be so insane sometimes.

We followed up our hard work with pizza and naps and reading. There’s something strange about Saturday of a three day weekend. There’s a sense of extra time. Nothing impending like Sunday.

Sunday was alright. I talked to a lot of people I work with this past week and found out that so many of them like to run. So, on a whim, I posted on FB that I was going to run Sunday morning and if anyone wanted to meet up, feel free. Two people did, in fact, and we did about 2.5 miles together. I ran a total of 4, which seemed pretty hard there for a bit but was OK in the end. I haven’t been pushing myself lately… like at all. I have been steadily doing 3 miles every time. That will change when I start training for my next half in October.

That afternoon I made a ton of food and on Sunday night, all I wanted to do was sleep.

Aside from cooking out and fireworks, Monday was very lazy. I took a nap when the boys did; Ash read. I made pineapple smoothies in the afternoon. Ash and I watched a kung-fu movie at night. I was somehow awake at 1 AM.

I was glad to be back in the office but the air was broken all morning and I sweat my way through my work. My building’s way of saying, “Welcome back!”

I have seven more labels to make. Two more emails to compose, proofread and send. One more blog post to ready for the morrow. One person to meet re: a Craigslist purchase. One grocery store trip to make. One three mile run before I can lie down and read, which is all I really want to do anyway.
