We Want to Know – a new Wednesday meme

PhotobucketIn the same vein as Meet Me On Monday, there’s a new meme at Dandelion Wishes. I was actually reluctant to do it because I don’t like my answers to these questions. But here goes.

{1} Do you make friends easily?
To be honest, no. I seem to befriend and have great conversations with people at work but bridging the gap to doing stuff outside work has always been difficult. I have retained zero friends from high school and anyone I knew in college I only talk to on Facebook.
I did meet a bunch of people through this Dinner Club a while ago. Ash’s friend Kelly married Beth who knew Heather who worked with Tiffany and then it went from there. Now, about every month or two months, we do a Girl’s Night Out and if we can all find sitters, we do Dinner Club.

{2} What 3 qualities are a must in a friend?
I feel like an equal amount of interest/care must be put in by both parties; Friends must be willing to listen but also share; Friends must not judge, even if we disagree. šŸ™‚

{3} What makes you a good friend?
I feel like, even if I don’t always hang around, I’ll be there if someone needs me, no matter what.

{4} Have you ever met a bloggy friend in real life?
Well, I didn’t meet her through blogging but through a website for shared interests. We emailed back and forth for years and then she flew (for the first time ever!) from Illinois to Florida for my wedding. Pretty awesome!

{5} Who is your best friend? Tell us about them.
Maybe y’all will think it’s lame but my best friend is Ash, my husband. We met in late 1999 and were friends before dating for 5 years before getting married. So we’ve had a lot of time to get to know each other and work through all the problems any two people naturally have.

*ETA: “My Best Friend” by Tim McGraw just came on Pandora. How coincidental!

  1. I think your answers are great. Why don’t you like them? I love your honesty and openness. I also looooooooooove that you list your husband as your best friend. We have that in common. I mean my husband is my best friend too. I get that.

      1. I think we can all to relate to not always making friends so easily. I consider myself a pretty outgoing person and I’ve lived in this town for 2.5 years and I have one friend. ONE! But it doesn’t help that I stay at home. When I taught, I had lots of friends. Then I had to move to a new town, far away from my “home” and it gets lonely.

I love that your hubby is your BFF. Mine is too!

        Thanks for linking up! =)

  2. Having your husband as your best friend is wonderful, my husband has been mine for nearly 25 years!

I grew up in Illinois and now live in Florida, small world!

Are you in a play group with your boys? That’s a perfect way to make new friends.

  3. I have not made my post to link up yet, because of what my answers will be too, and the people who see them, might not like what they see.

My husband is my best friend too, thanks for sharing

  4. co-workers are not the best friends… if you have a spat then the job becomes uncomfortable… I quit a job I loved over a spat with a co-worker.

  5. I used to become close quickly with people that I worked with and sometimes it worked out great and I’ve made some great friends out of it, but other times it just got me wrapped up in gossip and drama so I made it a point at my new job to keep work and my personal life totally separate.

It seems to be working, but some people are like, “Do you do ANYTHING?!” because they feel like I don’t talk about my personal life enough.

But whatever, I’m here to work not to make friends.

That sounded kind of bitchy. ;/

I like your answers, your honest and open and that’s nothing to be ashamed of!

  6. Until I started blogging, my only friend was my hubby. Living in a college town, friends you make move away. I was sort of between friends when I started my blog–as a way to vent but also to make a friend or two. It has worked, and as a plus, I’ve made a few IRL friends–not best friends, but friends.

  7. Wierd…. #1, you have a masters in English, that was my major in college. I speak it, that’s about it. #2, you have a 3 yr old (me too) and an infant (sortof 10 month old) and one on the way but still…. #3, I can get down with some Dilbert and I’m a fur momma too and I’m a lover of the white chocolate mocha.. extra kick!

So fun to find people who have such similarities!!!
