As I was putting Elliot’s lunchbox together (cream cheese and jelly sandwich on wheat, a Tupperware with mandarin orange segments), he was running about the kitchen all crazy – as he is wont to do in the mornings – and he came over to the corner wherein sits our fridge, garbage can and dog water dish.  He likes to splash in said water dish, then go dry his hand. It gives him some sense of accomplishment or responsibility. But he decided to play with the magnets instead. I breathed a sigh of relief and went back to preparing lunch. Soon as I turn around, Elliot was tripping over his feet and falling backwards to plunk into the water bowl, soaking his jeans entirely. And he cried.

And I *think* I had a minor breakdown. Not AT Elliot, per se, but in general. It had been that kind of morning already, where I kept dropping shit and hating all my clothes and running behind schedule. I HATE those days, though they’re bound to happen and why freak out, you know? What really put me over the edge was when Ash said to send him to daycare wet, it’s just water. No, it’s A LOT of water that is infused with dog slobber and whatever other detritus came from their mouths when they had just been outside, probably eating their own crap. UGH. So I changed the boy and got on to daycare and work.

With the semester coming to a close, I have a lot of things on my plate. Some of which I cannot discuss here but for the most part, just basic stuff. Making money, moving forward, creating a better life. Sometimes when I have little moments like this morning, I am forced to stop and take inventory of all that I have and all that we have accomplished. It helps to put things in perspective. I know I can sometimes get down on myself and start complaining about the most inconsequential things. It makes me sound spoiled. I don’t like it. I’m lucky. And as much as I hate to use the term, “we’re blessed.”

Ok, this post got way too cheesy on y’all. For that, I apologize. SO! (clap clap!) I am going to announce a contest soon. And I will do it better this time and try to get more people involved. Maybe get more folks to put links on their sites to mine, etc. I think it’s really fun to run little give-aways. Keep checking on me; I’ll get it going soon.
