- The city is clean and the part we stayed in felt very safe, though it was the upper-class shopping district, far as I could tell.
- Even the bums were polite. No one hassled us and when we walked by, they told us to have a nice day, regardless of the fact that we didn’t give them any change. Most just sit there reading, with a cup in front of them.
- I saw significantly less obese people in Chicago than I do on a daily basis in Florida.
- I assume it has something to do with unfathomable amount of walking everyone does.
- Having never been in a very large city in the US, I was sort of surprised by the CVS and Walgreens drugstores that are simply on the first floor of a high rise.
- Prices were not insane; the 10% sales tax was but it was raised in order to earn money for the 2016 Olympics, for which Chicago is a candidate.
- I know now that I wouldn’t want to live in a big city; I like my slower pace of life here, but it was really nice to visit.
