I may have mentioned it in passing, earlier this week, month, but I am broke as a joke this week. I mean, can’t find two pennies to rub together broke (ok ok, not THAT poor). But you see what I am saying. During the first 10 weeks of summer, I don’t make any extra money from teaching. Then, when the second semester begins, I don’t get that first (ginormous) paycheck until 3 weeks in – hence, this Friday is payday. (I think that calls for a WOOT!) Until then, I am eating the leftover banana muffins my mom baked, some string cheese, various left over cups of tuna, cottage cheese, yogurt, and whatever leftovers I can rummage from the fridge. This is lunch. For dinner, Ash and I are foraging the pantry. Last night, we ate leftover rice, took a 4 mile walk, then came home and ate refried beans and chips. And then we each had an orange and called it a night. Actually, cleaning out the pantry this way forces me to be creative. Did I mention that Ash is broke too? He paid all the bills ahead of time and his Roth IRA also pulled out a ton of money already for the month. We’re both scraping the bottom of the barrel. We haven’t been like this since college!
Meanwhile, our kitchen sink is once again backed up. Well, if you do any amount of dishes (or bottles) it will be. This is also directly affecting the effectiveness of our dishwasher. The thing isn’t rinsing well enough or even using half the soap. And don’t even think about anything on the top rack getting clean; it doesn’t happen. SO, I called my trusty plumber – Larry Boone – and hopefully he can come out either Thursday or Friday. You know, when we can write a check that won’t bounce. Until then, we’re not using the dishwasher and we’re washing our dishes in short shifts, to avoid a sinkfull of standing nasty water. Sigh. Old houses = old pipes and gunk built up over the ages.
So, I’m only a little stressed this week because of all this. My XM radio payment will automatically come out as well, but I think not until the 21st or 22nd. Thankfully. You know what they say: when it rains it pours and certainly this holds true in this situation.
SO. How’s it going for you guys? Good so far this week? What do you have planned? Anything?
I totally understand. This was us, last month. I had $12 in my personal account, PK had $4 and in our joint account, there was $30. That lasted us 10 days. It SUCKED.
Then it was payday and we got our economic stim check … hooray! It just FEELS good to know that there is some money there, just in case.
Here’s hoping Friday comes FAST.
