Weekend + possible “Best Picture” spoilers

Note the ode to college roommates in my 365 posts. I don’t think about those people very often so it was almost kind of nice to go back via this project and ruminate a bit. Well, almost.

Anywho, my weekend was pretty decent. On Saturday we ate eggs for breakfast and took the Little to the park. He had fun and we got to do something outdoors, although it’s getting pretty hot here. I ended up cleaning a bit then treated myself to a pedicure before we all went out to Chili’s for dinner.

Oh yeah, on Friday night we were going to go out but we decided to pick up a pizza and a movie. We got No Country For Old Men and I have to say, I was not that impressed. Ok, yes, the acting is good. But the story? A.) been done before (A Simple Plan) and b.) too much of it was too unbelievable. And the parts that were supposed to be artsy and make you think didn’t quiet achieve that for me. I know when Tommy Lee Jones is drinking the milk and seeing his reflection in the TV is supposed to be this “ahh” moment but I wasn’t buying it. Plus, they wanted you to get that in the end too but there wasn’t enough build-up. I still enjoyed watching it but at the same time, don’t know why it won Best Picture. I am a Coen brothers fan (LOVE Hudsucker Proxy and Oh, Brother…) but this one, didn’t do it for me. I thought There Will be Blood was better. And I thought Juno was better than both of them.

For Mother’s Day, Ash sent me flowers but that’s about it. Well, he bought and made lunch (hamburgers) and he also bought and installed a gate for the nursery. We have a couple of those baby gates but  we just lean them up against the door frames (b/c we’re too lazy to put them up and take them down each time) and they always fall over. This one is attached permanently and opens easily. We were going to go out to dinner once the Boy was in bed but I really didn’t feel like getting dressed so we just went to Publix and I made dinner.

The Boy has been improving upon his forward motion; getting much better at pushing with his toes and even getting up on his knees a few more times. I think he’s going to get it very soon. I have some footage of him flopping along which will be posted to flickr soon; didn’t have time last night to do much of anything since we ate around 9:30 and then the Spurs game was on.

I know this entry is very boring for a Monday but I just don’t have it in me this morning. Forgive me.

  1. I watched No Country for Old Men this weekend, too. I really liked it, though. My only criticism is that when they were trying to be artsy, it was obvious that they were trying to be artsy. It may be that I’m just a Cormac McCarthy fan. I have not seen Juno or There Will Be Blood, but my friends have been saying “I drank your milkshake” all week.

  2. Ha ha! I just put a sign on my door that says that. Have gotten a few comments so far.

I agree with the artsy issue; might have been more effective had they not been trying so hard.

See Juno! If nothing else, it’s at least fun to watch.
