New good things

I thought, as I sat here almost nodding off from my Extreme Sleep Deficit, it might be nice to review a few things I have recently eaten/visited/purchased. These are not all necessarily new to everyone, just me.

Hometown Coffee house on Kleman Plaza: I started stopping here because, as much I love the breakfast sandwiches at Goodies eatery, I just don’t dig their coffee. So, I began parking in the post office parking lot and sprinting across College avenue to this place, which is located in the new condo just built on Kleman Plaza. Let me first announce that I have no problems admitting that I am a true Starbucks snob. I really just don’t like to stomach any other coffee. However, Hometown makes a good cup of joe! I have also tried their latte, italian soda, and brioche – which was guava and cheese. All of which were quite tasty.

Something I just found out today is that it’s owned by a man who my husband works with at DOT, and who was also at our wedding. I do recommend this place to any Tallahasseans who may be in the downtown area; they have ample seating, a big LCD TV and good yummies.

Oreo Cakesters: Ok, I admit that I have wanted to try them FOREVER. But I just could never justify buying an entire box. I mean, have you seen my leftover baby weight? Can you say spare tire? But anyway, the Circle K on campus sells a 3 pack and my inner sweets whore gave in this afternoon and I am now eating these in my office. Well, let me tell you… they say ambrosia is the nectar of the gods but in my mind, the gods love Oreo Cakesters more. They retain that oh-so good Oreo taste but add in the ever-desired cake texture. On my walks to the convenience store during work, when the evil side of my brain is trying to convince me to buy candy/chocolate/etc… I am always thinking about cake. But you can’t really find a slice of cake. So this treat satisfies that craving. If you get the chance, buy these!

Boston Market Sirloin Dip Sandwich: I had gotten so sick of the basic meal at Boston Market: quarter white with mac and mashes. I ALWAYS got this. Well, a couple months ago, when my mom was here, we started to do this thing were all parties involved – when it came time to pick the place we were going to eat – wrote down two restaurant choices each and then we chose from a hat. I liked this just way of doing things so Ash and I carried out the tradition. EXCEPT, I never made it clear that we could not put places that had previously been ruled out of the rotation, such as Ted’s Montana Grill and Applebees. I swore we threw Boston Market in there at some point. But I acquiesced and let Ash go with BM, because I’m nice like that.

And I tried something completely different:

Boston Sirloin Dip Carver
Thin slices of USDA Choice top sirloin with balsamic caramelized onions, mayonnaise and melting Swiss cheese on a white or multi- grain roll. Beef au jus for dipping.

And I loved it. Have gotten it about four times now and it keeps getting better. Highly recommend this.

Ugly Dolls: My friend’s friend sent her a couple of these for her daughter and I was intrigued. I had to have one. Their website is funny and it explains the background of each doll. I think they’re funny because they’re not really “ugly” but cute in a funny sort of way.I bought Chuckanucka, because he worries about everything!

The “What’s in your bag?” Flickr Group: I had seen people post the contents of their bag on a few Digg articles in the past. I always thought it was kind of cool; to see how much crap people can cram into their satchel and cart around town all the time. I finally gave in because I got on a group joining kick. You can be voyerisutic on peoples’ bags here. You just may want to spill your beans as well.

That’s all for now. I might try to make this a weekly thing. What say you?
