Well, all the craziness has died down and I am left sorting out a few stragglers who a.) don’t like their class or b.) were too lazy/stupid/lost to sign up for one and have now missed the drop/add window. They’re the ones who leave angry messages on my phone on the weekends asking why the hell I don’t work on weekends. WTF, m8s? Government people and especially academia do NOT work on weekends!
My weekend was fairly uneventful, although we did have some people over Friday night. As it turns out, our friend’s wife is someone I went to middle school with. I broke out the old yearbooks and we reminisced about all the boys we liked (and had circled with hearts) and all the bitchy girls, the bad teachers… It was a lot of fun, actually.
On Sunday, I could tell that Elliot was feeling a tad under the weather; not eating as vigorously, had a bit of the runs. So I’m carrying him down the hall in just a diaper – because I was on my way to the kitchen for scissors to cut the tag off his new shirt – and he starts to spit up, no big deal. But then it’s no longer spitting up and full force vomiting, which is waterfalling down my shirt and splashing into the floor, which is what prompted Ash to come running. I think I stood there for a good 30 seconds before Ash says, “Well, make a move.” I handed him the baby – at which he cringed because he’s the type who will throw up if someone else does – and I removed my shirt, dropping it directly onto the puddle o’ regurgitated milk, and proceeded to clean the boy and then myself. What a mess.
He seems like he feels better today but he still isn’t eating a lot. We’ll have to see what daycare says about him but I’m not going to worry if he’s still acting normal. If this is his first cold, then all the better because it had to happen sooner or later. The joys of parenting. Sigh.
It’s cool today and the week gets cooler. My mother is coming to visit this weekend so she’ll whine about it, I’m sure. I’m used to it now but she’s not too keen on the cold.
This post is ultra-dull but all these W2 forms are frying my brain!
