Calm before the storm

So what did we do this weekend? I personally attended a bridal shower Saturday morning. It was quite nice; good food and a fun little activity where we went around the room and each person gave one piece of advice about marriage. Let me tell you: not a dry eye in the house. I mean, what can you expect from a room full of women? Yeah, not much. But either way, I had a very good time. That afternoon, I finally got my ass in gear and put away the Christmas tree and my little village. Somehow I missed the stockings but at least my living room is almost back to its normal boring set-up. But I like it and it makes me feel like I’ve shaken the holiday stress away.

Saturday night we met my friend, her husband and their daughter – Elliot’s age – at Beef O’Brady’s so that was nice. It’s always fun and relaxing to actually go out. We do it so rarely these days. Although, Ash went to a party Friday night where he realized the huge difference between people who are married with kids and people still in college. I could have told him that…

We were pretty lazy today. I went to Target for – what else? – diapers and then to the Gap because someone told me they had turtlenecks for ten bucks. Lo and behold, they did. I got a brown one and then a gray sweater. It’s going to be cold for another two moths so what the heck? We watched football and took baths so we could read. We took a little trip to the bookstore and listened to music. All in all, a very enjoyable weekend.

So yes, school begins tomorrow so my job becomes compounded and a million times busier. I actually feel slightly relieved when I take Elliot to daycare. My brain somehow thinks I have to still take care of him on top of work; I know that’s silly because – duh – he’s in good hands at daycare, but I’d been caring for him 24/7 for 4 straight months. It had become my entire life, almost.

Have a good week everyone; I’m going to try to get some reading in before Elliot needs his final nightly feeding.
