I’ll recap my baby shower and try to make it brief, for you may not care about all the little details. In essence there were about 15-16 people there, the food was awesome, we didn’t play any really dumb games (just 2: the guesstimate the belly size and one where if you caught someone saying the key words, you could steal their little clothespin things, trying to accumulate the most), and so many people gave me great stuff! The pictures I have in flickr don’t do it justice as I didn’t have everything set up. I’ll take another shot later today, now that Ash is home with the camera. The whole thing was so wonderful and I don’t even know if I can say thank you enough to those who helped make it happen.
After the shower and after my mind unfogged – those kinds of events always make me feel out of it for some reason – my mom, sister and I went shopping. My sister, who now makes a lot more money than she used to – insisted on buying me some more maternity type clothes. I don’t want to admit which store I ended up finding shirts but I now have 3 more to add to the rotation as well as the dress I wore to the shower. Yes, me in a dress. It’s completely opposite my norm but hey, we all have to change sometime.
The rest of my weekend was full of good food and family time and before I knew it, everyone had left and I was alone with my peace and quiet. I always need some time to readjust after company; time to get back to being myself again and reacquaint myself to the house and my things. Does that make sense? Anyway, I cleaned and made dinner and by 10, I was worn out, sore, and lying in bed. I don’t want to say I overdid myself this weekend but I should listen to my body; 31 weeks is proving that I’m reaching a point where my body simply isn’t complying to all that I want to put it through. For example, bending over to pick something up isn’t easy anymore. Getting off the couch is sort of annoying in that my balance is even more off than before. Being pregnant is such a weird, yet fascinating experience, I tell you.
Back to work and now I really need to get my mind into the mode of production here. Happy Monday!
I am glad you had a good shower ! 🙂 What was the most surprising thing you got?
The most surprising, I guess, would be the Keepsake quilt from my neighbour. It has a slot for a picture of all his “firsts”. It’s the most creative gift by far. I guess in terms of all around surprising is my boss buying me a carrier, since she already gave me a little swing and her old carseat. Sure it’s slightly used (for her grandson, whom she only had in it twice a week) but she’s given me so much, I just feel bad!
