If you’re out near the Pacific Northwest, then it’s kind of overcast and still cool at night. In the Midwest, I hear they’re getting some uncontrollable flooding. Down here, Florida is battling a gazillion forest fires and even closed buildings smell like smoke. Cameras don’t do the haze justice – I tried – but it’s terrible outside. All weekend I kept wanting to go for a walk but the smell is so strangling that I never did exercise. All we can do is pray for rain.
In other news, I was dead tired when I got home on Friday but Ash was determined to see a movie. Sigh. I wanted to go but I was draggin’. Regardless, he got me up and at it so we bought tickets around 6 for the 9:15 show, went to eat, then did grocery shopping, then even had time to relax a bit at home before going back to the IMAX for 300. I wouldn’t say it was an awesome movie. I would say it was pretty good and IMAX made it better. I was impressed with some of the blatant symbolism for current events of war and giving in to the enemy, etc. It was no Braveheart or Gladiator, but I was pleased all in all. (And all the well-sculpted abs certainly didn’t hurt π )
On Saturday, I awoke and felt compelled to continue my ever-present quest for maternity jeans that don’t look like “mom jeans”. You know the kind I mean, you ALL know. Alas, I didn’t find a single pair that looked decent. I did however find a pair of khaki pants at the baby consignment shop and they cost me a whopping $5.91. I’ll say that’s a good deal! Considering I won’t wear them but 8 months total (if you count the next kid; hell yeah I’ll hold onto them until then). I became enraged and in a rotten mood when I tried to pick up the nursery painting project again; getting the lines straight around the crease where the wall meets the ceiling is not easy, even with blue tape. You know why? Because we have popcorn ceilings. We should have just scraped that shit off and been done with it. However, once I got ahold of my sense again, I managed to finish the project – woo hoo. And sigh of relief. That’s done.
Ash took me out to lunch for mother’s day – since I am technically a mom now. Although, he says I’ve been a dogmom for a couple years now and he should have been getting me mother’s day stuff all along. Eh. We went to Olive Garden then hit Target to add things to our baby registry. Ash actually got into it – as opposed to the wedding registry – as soon as he started to imagine our son in all these cute little outfits. Yeah, I told him it was fun stuff but being a guy, he didn’t believe me.
Little Elliot is kicking a lot more now. I felt it on the outside for the first time around 11 o’clock, Saturday night. Pretty amazing. I’m thinking field goal kicker. You can play forever, rarely get injured, and you still make a good deal of money. Just don’t play for a team like the Patriots because Son, we love you but we could never be Patriots fans.
I know some of my readers were busy graduating this weekend (yay!) but how about everyone else? Good weekend?
