How I spent my MLK jr. day

Somehow, I woke up this morning and felt… refreshed. This is a rare morning feeling for me, so I cherished it while it lasted, which was up until about 10 minutes ago, when I started to feel sleepy again. Sigh. Actually, it is ok. Three day weekends are nice but it is nice also to get back to work, to routine, to productivity. Although, as previously mentioned, I got a lot done around my house this weekend.

I will tell you, though, what I did not do this weekend: eat particularly healthy. In fact, I don’t even remember what we ate Friday – oh wait- we had Steak Escape. On Saturday, we got to Ale house at about 4:15 and throughout the evening I managed to eat: 5 hot wings, 2 mozzarella sticks, a platter of fried clams complete with rice and hush puppies, plus half a dessert and about 6-8 beers. (maybe more but I don’t remember; the pitchers kept coming) I don’t even want to think about how many calories I consumed that evening. I hope that the raking made up for it the next day but who knows. All I do know is that I won’t do that again for a while. For breakfast I am having a hard-boiled egg and a piece of bread. I brought salad for lunch.

My little alcove is quite quiet this morning. Oh, and my little incident from Friday got all squared away. I might start getting teaching paychecks as early as the 2nd. And my Masters has actually posted on my unofficial transcript now. Yay! Seeing that somehow validates all the work.

I am going to take advantage of the down-time right now to write some thank-you notes and work on a paper that I hope to present at a conference in November. Have a good Tuesday, everyone.
