Weekend recovery

::Stretch, yawn, sigh::

Welcome back to the workweek – just think of it this way: most of us will be on vacation in a couple weeks. We have something to work towards.

(I thought I would begin the entry with optimism)

ANYway, my weekend was very busy and yet, contained a good deal of relaxing. Friday night, I studied for French and that’s about it. I can’t seem to rememb- oh yes! That’s right. After that last depressing entry, Ash got home from biking and he took me out to this place that sells Dept. 56 Christmas villages. He bought me one building and my mother said to pick one out from her as well. So I now have 3! (pictures forthcoming). We also went to Wal-mart for Christmas lights and other various items.

On Saturday morning, I had my French exam. I feel pretty good about it even though I know one part I messed up. It was a travel article about Thailand and although I *believe* it should be “bristles with excitement”, I put something to the effect of “covered his castle with spikes”. If you saw the other things it was surrounded with, it would make sense, I swear!

So with that done I went home with some post-test anxiety. I cannot fail this exam but I did everything I could; but taking the class and going all the time, and studying, I set myself up to succeed. But I am still worried. I shopped some afterwards to release some of the built-up stress, and then we got ready for our party the rest of the day. It was a pretty good turn-out; we built a fire in the firepit – toasted marshmallows too! – and I didn’t get too drunk. I was pretty buzzed though. I’ll try to post pics in myphotoalbum when I get home today.

Yesterday, we slept in for as long as we could and then went out to football as usual. But I was really not feeling good. Well, I was exhausted for one thing but I was in a weird mood. I didn’t feel like talking to anyone and I craved quiet. So I went home and got into bed. Although I only slept for about an hour anf fifteen, I felt much better when I awoke. Sometimes afternoon naps are just what the doctor ordered.

There are not a lot of students around today because it is just finals week. Grad assistants are at home, grading papers and putting off grading papers, waiting for it to be next week. Unfortunately, I must be here next week, when the halls will be empty, haunted only by the ghosts of students, shuffling to and from classes, eagerly awaiting the end.

  1. You make working at a school sound romantic. I am glad your French test is over with. But I would love to understand the context of “covered his castle in spikes” because that made me laugh out loud. I just imagine Neuschwanstein covered in icicle spikes. Google it, it’s an amazing castle.

  2. Ha ha well, the following sentence was, “Nevertheless, despite its history, Thailand is known for its jovial and carefree people.” So you know, it just made sense. I’ll go check out that castle too.
