When I left work yesterday, I went to The Great Bicycle Shop to purchase a bicycle that would a.) be lighter than the piece of crap Huffy Backwater from 2000 (or earlier) that is sitting in my garage b.) would fit my frame and c.) be able to do street biking as well as some light trail riding – not mountainous. So I ended up with a Giant Boulder SE, which fits my needs perfectly. It came with mountain biking tires so I bought cruisers instead. This way I have the more rugged ones if I ever need them. I rode a few others but this one was the best, within my price range. I got nervous as it was being rung up, only because I get that way when making large purchases. Weird, I know. The guys are doing the Tom Brown trails at 10 and I am going just to ride the wussy trails, just to get some ride time in on the new bike.

In 1765, the first American fair was presented in Windsor, Nova Scotia. 241 years later, Wayne, Lance, Ash and myself went to the North Florida Fair on a cool and windy November evening. We had a pretty good time – were there almost 5 hours but it didn’t feel like it. I have included some pictures for your viewing enjoyment. Have a good long weekend! (If you’re in school or work for the state, that is)

  1. Neat ride! The bike I’m riding is an old Murray hunk o’ steel that was my brother’s bike. It’s an 18 speed mountain bike. I haven’t been ridin it lately because it needs new tubes. I’m putting the new tubes in this weekend. But when I decide that biking to campus if for me, I’m going to try to talk jessica into a new bike, a hybrid bike much like the one you got.

  2. Excellent choice!!

I’m headed out today because I’m tired of looking at a $500 dollar dust collector…

Have you ever heard Bill Engval’s fair bit? I’ll have to find it for you… it’s just too funny but totally sums up fairs as a whole.
