Life throws both good and bad at you

Think of today as a train going up a mountain. It has been steadily moving onward until now. I have come across a road block – maybe in the train allegory, a cattle on the track – and time has stopped entirely. It has been 3:15 for about ten minutes, I kid you not. But the sun and breeze coming into my window are a nice little reminder of the world; that I should be thankful for slow moments and the beauty of nature when I get the chance.

Technically, today can be considered Thursday, since Friday is Veteran’s Day and a paid holiday for state employees. I believe this deserves a little “yay!’ and maybe a little dance in the chair. Just a little one.  I don’t think Ash and I have anything planned for Friday other than sleeping in, playing with the dogs, and enjoying a day to ourselves. I know I will appreciate it, especially because my Saturday isn’t looking too great.

My Papa is in the hospital. His blood count or something was at half of what it should be. I guess on Monday night they gave him a blood transfusion and the next day, he had a colonoscopy. On Friday evening, my father is driving up there. Early Saturday morning I figure I will go up as well. I am the closest of the immediate family. My father has three siblings : my Uncle Hal, Uncle Don, and my Aunt Ceil. One’s in KY, one’s in Atlanta, and one is in South Florida. I am but two hours and about ten minutes away. I don’t see that side of the family much, although a bunch of them came to my wedding. I hate to say it but I will probably be seeing them sooner than I want to, if things go the way nature intends. But such is life.

Ash has a flag football game tonight and we’re probably eating mac and cheese for dinner.  Sometimes it’s the little things in life that are the best.

  1. I hope all goes well with your dad. My mom had the same exact issue last week…only the Dr. opted for an endoscopy…she goes in next week. My thoughts are with you.
