MMOM- Internet is slow tonight edition

1.  Who would be your dream celebrity date?

I kind of like the idea of Jake, just like Java, but if we were actually going to get to choose one celebrity for a  date – like dinner and a movie – then I’d say David Boreanaz. I bet he’d be ridiculously fun to hang out with. Oh yeah, and he’s HOT.
2.  Do you have any food restrictions?

Negative. I am an omnivore.3.  How much time do you take to get ready in the morning?

Actually, I could probably take about only twenty.

4.  Sausage or bacon?

Gonna go with sausage if for nothing else, than sausage gravy on biscuits.

5.  Do you Google, Bing or Yahoo?

I don’t know anyone who DOESN’T Google.

MMOM – Hand’s Getting Better edition

1.  If you had to eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Man, tough question because whatever it was, I’d get so sick of it that it would be ruined! I’m gonna say… chicken! This way, I could cook it different ways. ;)

2.  Do you write your blog posts in advance or the day you post them?

Depends. I like to get ahead on Random Tuesday, Thursday 13, and Friday Confessional but I never seem to be online Sunday night to do this one in advance!

3.  Have you ever ridden in an ambulance?
Ridden, no. Sat, yes. When Ash had his accident back in July the ambulance was passing by and stopped to see if Elliot was ok. It was hot as hell out so they let us hang out in there until the tow truck came.

4.  What is your favorite candle scent?

I like Yankee’s Midsummer Night or Midnight Oasis.

5.  Coffee or tea?

Coffee year ’round but tea in winter.

Meet Me on Monday – Limited Edition

Via Java

1.  Crunchy or soft tacos?
I prefer them soft at home but crunchy and greasy from a restaurant.

2.  Do you scrapbook?

For a while I tried to; I love the idea but just don’t have time.

3.  Do you take any daily medications?

Just glucosamine for my runner’s knees. I have a daily asthma med that I really only need 1-2 times a week.

4.  What is your favorite sound?

Hmm, tough question. It would be cliche to say my kids’ laughter (though that wins)  so maybe late afternoon: birds, wind, distant cars. Calmness.

5.  Where were you born?
Laurel, Maryland. My parents moved to Florida when I was 6 months.

MMOM – Back to the grind edition

1.  Do you have a fireplace in your home?

I don’t but the house I lived in during high school does and I love going back to visit my parents so we can enjoy their fires.

2.  Can you drive a stick shift?

No way! I tried once and quickly realized I wouldjust avoid learning by never owning that kind of car. Though I still think I should.

3.  How many computers are in your home?

Man, we used to have so many, because we were gaming dorks. Now we have mine, Ash’s, his backup, two servers and a laptop.

4.  Are your taxes done yet?  Do you do them yourself?

Yes and Ash did them through Tax Act. It makes me terribly nervous every year.

5.  What is your favorite meal of the day?

I’m actually going with breakfast. If I don’t eat, I’m really cranky. Plus, I love pastries and/or biscuit sandwiches and always have to have coffee.

Meet me On Monday – Spring Break edition

Luckily, Java is still hosting this meme. What else would I be doing on a Monday morning?

1.  What is your favorite way to eat potatoes?

I’m going to go with mashed. I make them with milk and butter, fluff ’em up real good and usually serve them with corn on the cob and steak. Yum!

2.  What was the last package that was delivered to your house?

I mentioned this purchase a couple weeks ago; I got a steampunk octopus pillbox on etsy.

3.  What is your favorite scent that you love to smell?
Oh man, can I pick two? I really love the Abercrombie mens’ cologne but I also love the smell of wood-burning fires in winter.

4.  Do you smoke?
No, however, in my senior year of high school and probably up through my first senior year of college, I smoked Sampoerna clove cigarettes whenever we drank coffee or liquor. Sometimes I miss those days but I don’t miss smoking.

5.  Are your parents married or divorced?

Married, and for 40 years! They’re going to Glacier National park to celebrate this year. I used to wonder how they lasted so long but I think it’s because they can both ignore each others’ annoying traits.

(Here they are with Elliot when he was 15 months old)

Ok, there you have it. Hop on over and start sharing/commenting.

Meet ‘n’ greet

So yay! Java is going to keep hosting this meme. This is great news! Let’s get on with it, shall we?

1.  What are you wearing right now?

I am wearing jeans, flip flops, and my Bon Temps Football shirt (a la Sookie Stackhouse). It’s conference day so I don’t have to teach, which means I can dress down.

2.  Do you have any freckles?

Nope, this is a freckle-free zone. Awww.

3.  What is your favorite Lifesaver flavor?

Without a doubt, the Butter Rum. However, I seem to have trouble finding it. This past holiday season, Michael’s had them by the register so I got 4 packs.

4.  What is the last movie you saw in the theater?

Last Friday, Ash and I saw Unknown, which was alright but I’m not sure this is exactly the role for Liam Neeson. He’s trying too hard to be an action star.

5.  Would you rather live without tv or without music?

I bet almost everyone will say TV; I could go without the actual appliance of the TV because so much is on the net these days. In general, I don’t have to have TV shows. But music… life would be so dull without it!

Alright, head over to Java’s house and link up!

Meet Me on Monday – new host edition

I was saddened to sit down to my computer this morning and see that Java, who formerly hosted this meme, was going to be quitting her blog. Luckily, Heather @ Acting Balanced picked it up. And I am thankful!

1. What is your favorite pair of shoes?

I have a pair of winter shoes and then about four pairs of sandals for summer and that’s IT. I’m just not a shoe gal! But, I love my Merrells. My favorite pair looks like the one in the forefront there but in a lighter shade.
2. Cake or Pie and what flavor?

Sometimes when I am at the store, I can’t resist the baker’s single servings slices of cake. Depending on my mood, chocolate or lemon. BUT, I actually prefer pie but not the kind with a big crusty top. I really love a manadarin orange pie.

3. What was the last book you read?

Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley. And even though it was in the romance category, it was heartbreaking and mentally exhausting!

4. If you could buy one piece of technology/electronics what would it be and why – price is no object?

Hmm, this is actually kind of tough. I need a new motherboard but that’s too simple. I was watching HGTV the other night and a show about amazing bathrooms. I’m going to go with the most advanced shower money could buy.

5. Where do you do your best thinking?

Hmm, either while running or in the car. Though, I always come up with ideas right before I take a nap.

If you want to partake and keep this meme alive, head on over to the site!

Getting to Knooooow Yooouu…

Via Java

I skipped last week since I was at the doctor and recovering from running and well, all around lazy! Back on track this week though.

1.  Did you get any Valentine’s Gifts?

Not yet. :) Ash says he didn’t buy me anything – and he very well may not – but I also don’t expect much. I would be happy with a really heartfelt card.

2.  What is your favorite topping on something toasted?

Oh geez, tough question. If you’re talking bread for breakfast, then I’m a glutton for butter AND grape jelly. But my mom makes this french bread toasted in the oven with olive oil, feta and tomatoes. It’s not quite like bruschetta. It kind of looks like the below:

3.  Do you pick out your outfit the night before?

Not typically. Sometimes if I can’t sleep (which is rare) I’ll think about what i want to wear. Morning temperature usually dictates my outfit. My morning are so crazy AND scheduled (a dichotomy, I know) that I probably should do this though.

4.  What food item do you absolutely despise?

Since I’m typically an omnivore, this is tough. Also, i go through phases where I won’t want something. Lately, it’s chili. Actually,I haven’t wanted chili in about two years. But my old stand-bys for the hated food question are lima beans and oysters. Not together of course! I’ve always hated limas for the way they pop and hiss when you bite them and only I recently ate raw oysters and OMG. Why would you want to eat a food that looks – and tastes – like snot??

5.  Righty or lefty?

Boring ol’ right handed. I find it amusing that I am because both my parents are left handed and my sister is ambidextrous.

Why don’t you head on over to Java’s place and get to know everyone?

Meet Me on Monday – Gloomy Day edition

I really look forward to all these weekly memes I do now. Gives me a new purpose, you know? I usually can handle Mondays but I really don’t feel like being here today. If you feel the same way, head on over to Java’s blog and do yourself this thingy!

1.  What do you put on your hot dog?

Usually only mustard. I think ketchup is reserved for french fries.

2.  Do you play Sudoku?
Hells no! Me and numbers aren’t friends. I failed College Algebra three times! However, I am pretty good at puzzles but just not this one. I prefer word searches.

3.  What is your favorite vegetable?
I am weird about vegetables; while I love them, I don’t eat them nearly as often as I should. That said, zucchini is probably my favorite. Saute that with some olive oil, salt, pepper and a little garlic salt and OMG heaven.

4.  Do you color your hair?
Negative. One time I tried to bleach it and it didn’t turn out so great since mine is so dark. So it really ended up being a disaster.

5.  What is your favorite brand of clothing?

I’m not really the person to ask about clothes; I hate shopping and spending money but I do like to look nice. I’d be happy buying everything at Target for all I care if they had enough nice things. I also really like Old Navy but rarely find anything I love. I guess for jeans I love American Eagle and tops, I always find stuff at JC Pennys, so that’s not really a brand. Now, if we aren’t talking for me, I love when guys wear Affliction. :)

Meet Me on Monday – Busy ass week edition

Yes, I have a heck of a week ahead of me; student conferences every day, meetings, and doctors’ appointments. But there’s always time to blog…

Via Java

1.  What is your favorite kind of fudge?
I’m going with mint fudge because it reminds me of the Thin Mints Girl Scout cookies.

2.  Is there snow outside your window?
LOL, no. But Tallahassee did get a good layer of frost.

3.  What is your favorite meal of the day?
Breakfast! I have a serious thing for breakfast foods, but surprisingly nothing really sweet. I don’t really care all that much for pancakes or waffles. But give me eggs, grits, biscuits and gravy and I am in heaven.

4.  Do you text on your cell phone?
All the time! I guess I do find it easier than talking sometimes but I think the art of the phone call is dying. Which is kind of sad.

5.  Waffles or pancakes?

Funny this one should come up after the one about favorite meal. If I had to choose, I’ll go with pancakes. I made them last Monday and I think we maybe eat them once a month… maybe.

Head on over and do your own list!
